Goes in to get fixed, guy says "Ah another mickey mouse job" and I think he means it's easy to fix. He clarifies that it's a cozy, dark place that's warm. Mice will go in. You might never see the actual mouse.
He had someone from the western part of the state whose computer room was in the basement. Temperature dropped outside and a snake found its way into the house through the basement foundation and ended up in his computer. Snake didn't come out when he started having problems, so he packaged it up and sent it to the repair place, they open it and there's a (starved) garter snake in his computer. It's freaked out from the trip and you can imagine the unpleasantness that caused for everyone (imagine opening a case and finding a snake).
That's why I'm anal about the cases I get for computers these days. Never know when a mouse or a snake or god knows what else might slip in there while the machine is powered down and you're not in the room.

Mine hasn't shut off since last time the power went out.

i thought it was bad for the comp if it was run contiunuesly with out shutting it off, at least once every 24 hours?
The hardest thing a computer does is start up. Same with a car, generally.

I wonder how he got in there in that position in the first place. He looks a bit large to have been able to get completely in there and then turn around.
If a snake is capable of stretching his body enough to fit a rat inside of it, it's stretchy enough to be able to squeeze through the fan slots while the system is turned off
Snakes are my one great fear, I think

hahahah thats great. . .
And about the computer rebooting thing:
Newer OS'es such as Win 2k or Win XP (dunno bout linux versions or whathave you, yet) don't need to be turned off to have the memorey cleared. There's little to no system slow down for being on so long. Sometimes you might get a little bit of a slow down when you start something new up, but it doesn't last. (The Win2k comment is going off the school computers, don't know when they were last rebooted, heh)
As for things older, ME or 9x they can be bettered by being rebooted once a week or something like that. Simply clears out everything that you don't need and lets it go back to filling it up again. My ME comp gets a weekly restart or so because I can notice a difference in it's speeds in doing the few things I use it for (IE and mIRC, maybe DK2 or RCTycoon).
That's just my input.
