With nice costs on shipping.
And nice costs on parts.
Fast - Depends. They use Fedex, and are based out of california. If you go for their 'saver' options, those parts get shipped for free (Or very cheap), but are shipped standard ground and take a few days to arrive. I ordered a Video card from them thursday last week. It was delivered today Would have been here sunday, but they don't deliver sundays
You can get the stuff rush shipped, unfortunately 2nd day or overnight tends to get REALLY expensive.
I recommend Newegg to everyone when they say they're buying parts. They have tons of shit, they have awesome prices, and I've never heard anything but good things about 'em. [ 11-25-2002: Message edited by: Khyron ]
But sent it back, no problem with replacing it.
I placed an order, got relatively cheap shipping (I was a bit eager, so I didn't choose the free shipping).
It all arrived just fine, in about 3 boxes. One being the monitor, and then the other two had all the other, smaller, components in them.
It worked out fine.
And as far as shipping time... it's always been pretty quick, atleast in my experience.
Example: I order a new Router last Sunday and didn't really expect to get it until Thursday or Friday.
It was at my door Tuesday.

Hmm No flames please but I did some research. I can configer a Dell for the same price as the parts I was gonna get from Newegg and have a faster system. Guess I am getitng a stripped down dell instead of parts.
There's a certain satisfaction of knowing exactly what you're getting, customizing it to exactly how you want it to be, and knowing that you've built it yourself.
I love Great White (my computer) more than I could a prebuilt.

I agree there. I am a Dell CSRs worse nightmare. I want to know the brand of the MB etc. I wll be using my current HD, SOund card, Vid card, DVD, etc. Basicly we are going to have 3 computers mixed and matched to give me and my parents better computers and use thier old one as a router.
And I don't really care much for the extra .2FPS I will get from this MB as opposed to that one :P If it works and is stable I am happy.
The CPU may actually be soldered in. Good luck getting it out without careful solder work.
Also, for whole systems it may occasionally be cheaper to go Dell, but I tend to upgrade one piece at a time with my computer, which is a great deal cheaper through Newegg. [ 11-25-2002: Message edited by: »Waisztarroz« ]

You haven't messed with Dell or Gateway much have you? They use completely standard parts. I can take the MB out of my current Gateway, put it in a different case I get from New Egg and then put a standard MB in the GW case.
I have owned 5 Gateways and 3 Dells. None of them have given me any more problems than a system I built myself. Not to mention that I get a 3 year, next day replacement, warrenty and software.
*shrugs*

How many CPUs have you moved around?
Again, I'd check with Baj about his system. I'm not too terribly impressed with the boxes we have here at the office.

3 between the various ones I have had in the past year or so.

When I read this, I thought "Is it secret? Is it safe?"
I contribute nothing.

So, you've always been able to safely remove the CPUs from the Gateways and Dells you've owned in the past?
What Dell deal were you looking at that you couldn't put together yourself for $120 cheaper, by the way?

I never tried on any of my older systems. My parents have a Gateway PIII 750. I will sneak in and look later. However and the three P4 systems I have worked with I was able to swap out Processors. (2 Gateways and one dell.) I took a 1.6 GH processor out of one of the Gateways to test in my Dell. Basicly wanted to see if it was the Processor that was bad or the MB.
The computer worked fine and I called Dell, had a replacement Processor two days later.

Be quiet Maradon. I was hoping to put together somethingg cheap from Newegg. But I was up to around 600 and still needed more parts. I checked Dell and was able to get one configured for 800 and change that was faster than what I had put together on NewEgg.
NewEgg comp was going to be a AMD 2100+
Dell was an P4 2.4
Better vid card than I was going to buy from NewEgg, better sound card, etc, etc.

The ones I found on dell.com only had options for shitty no-name integrated sound cards or a SBLive! that was new about a year ago, cheap anonymous motherboards, and a Geforce4 TI 4200 as the "premium" video card selection, and it's probably PCI.

SB live would be an upgrade for my parents. I have an Audigy. Same goes for the GeForce 4200 (it is AGP but nice assumption there). Why should I spend the same ammount of money for less though NewEgg? [ 11-25-2002: Message edited by: Azizza ]
Oh and I bet that Cheap No-name MB is almost as good or as good as an MSI or Asus. As I said earlier. I am really not worried about that extra .5 performance point.

It's not a performance issue, it's a general rule of thumb that if there is one thing you don't cheap out on, it's the motherboard!
The question was raised by my mother and I agree with her.
Why would we spend the same amount of money for fewer parts, no complete warrenty, etc.
I see it just the same as with my RC equipment. I take great pride in the ones I build myself. I love them. They are great performers. However sometimes I want to just have fun. I want to buy an Almost ready kit and have it good to go in a few hours compared tens or hundreds of hours for a Kit. Both are great. The kit I build myself will probably fly better and be exactly how I want it. However the Almost ready to go kit will fly almost as well and be ready in much less time.

Azizza had this to say about Cuba:
Why should I spend the same ammount of money for less though NewEgg?
It's only less if you consider modern and performance parts to be "less"

Azizza probably says this to all the girls:
However I am looking at mid level. at this range it is as cheap or cheaper.
Oh, well if performance isn't an issue and you're just looking to get the cheapest PC possible, then Dell is the way to go. Most of the parts you're going to get will likely be refurbished RMA's that aren't generally available but prefab corporations are scrambling to get rid of.
Dimension 4550 :

Price for the Newegg PC : 811.
And for that, you get better graphics card, hard drive, Burner, sound, twice the memory...
What's this fantastic deal you got from Dell, Azizza? I'd like to go to their website and take a good look at it myself.

Verily, Azizza doth proclaim:
Maradon why don't you post some PROOF of this. Oh wait. you have none? THats what I thought.
I work for a company that does it?
Why don't you post some PROOF that they're new parts.
Lessee, last year's sound card, last year's processor and motherboard, sells for less than new, other remanufactured parts available...gee, it sure smells like a remanufactured job!
