Looks like they finally said "Fuck it, do whatever you want. We don't care."

Didn't they agree with the UN before, then ignore it bit by bit as time went by?

Yes, I'm sure the Iraqi government will cooperate in full with UN weapons inspectors. I mean, look at the historical precedent!

Don't look over there, by the way.

This would be a good thing if UN weapons inspectors had any impact at all on arms development.

By thier own admittance, they don't. UN weapons inspector David Kay is quoted as saying that if Iraq makes even the slightest attempt to conceal a facility, an army of weapons inspectors will not find it.

I know it is sad. You'd think that since they've been doing all this negotiation crap that they'd actually search the whole damn country and check everywhere.

If we really didn't want them producing weapons we'd nuke them... I mean other than mass desserts what is there in the Middle East, perfect weapons testing area.

The desert looks like desert until someone drives a mobile SCUD launcher out of hiding. It's pretty much what Maradon quoted. They hid them from us before, they'll do it again.

All this has really done is delay things a while.

Nite man...ever hear of Mesopotamia? That's Iraq buddy. It's the only fertile land in the entire Middle East, between the Tigris and the Euphrates. So no, there isnt desert. Also, i was hearing on CNN (so it must be true...right?) that we'll probably still go to war, it all matters how cooperative Iraq is. If they don't cooperate well, and seeing as it's Ramadan I doubt they will, our case for war is much stronger than if they fully cooperated, because then the argument is made that they have done everything we asked them to do. All in all, I don't think this has changed the overall picture one ioda.

No desert? Ahhh so all that riding around in the sand during Desert Storm was fun at the beach? Granted, it started in Kuwait, etc, but even pictures of Baghdad (you know...the shot everyone likes to see of the gate in the city with the crossed giant scimitars?)...that can't be desert sand. Just needs dusting, right?

There might be fertile patches, but it's a hot, arid area. It's not the fertile crescent.

Personally, I don't think this changed anything. Just more time to sit around and think about the war that everyone knows is coming. It's a shame we can't just take care of the problem once and for all, and be done with all of this crap. Iraq is nothing but trouble, if you ask me.
