My friend owns an HP celeron, his comp won't boot up passed the c:\Windows prompt.

We've tried reinstalling windows and went into safe mode, still nothing seems to work.

When we reboot it still won't go passed C:\Windows

Anyone have any suggestions with what might be wrong?

Was gonna try a format, but he oesn't have his driver disks for quite a few things.

Drop it off the empire state building, go buy a new one. Fun for everyone.

My dad had something similar, and oddly enough it was a bad RAM chip doing it. You might want to try that if he has some extra laying around.

Its either format and find drivers on the net, or you have a new footstool.

Now...you could try to DL the drivers on your system, burn em to CD (or copy to many discs) and use those.
