Okay, on to the review. My opinions. This movie positively rocked. I loved it in the theatre, and I'm definitely loving it at home. The DVD itself has a couple noticeably extended parts, but nothing so much that it really differenciates from the theatrical release. So nothing really new, but who cares the movie kicked ass anyways.
Now on to the DVD itself. Here is my current setup. I have a 61" HDTV, with a Sony 6.1 System, Polk Audio satelites and complete system setup. Moives are my thing yo. I'm a weirdo that way.
Anyways. The tranfer of this film on the DVD is just downright amazing. There is not a SINGLE hint of artifacting ANYWHERE, and quite a few of the scenes are noticeably cleaned up from the theatrical release. It's downright awesome it its perfection of DVD quality film. There are, however, a severe lack of angle options which is a downer concidering the film, but they aren't a nessesity so it's no great loss.
Sound.. Damn.. Okay Danny Elfman has always been amazing at the reigns of moody movie music, and of course the score was downright awesome to begin with. On the DVD though, in a home setting, with the right system. Jeezus it's fucking sweet. The only other film that pushed my system as well as this one was 'Planet of the Apes' another good movie, but the Spiderman score and arrangement is far superior. The audio mapping on this DVD just rocks. Truely immersive.
I've BARELY gotten into the extra's at this point, so will have more word on those later. So far, I am impressed. A lot of it is previously released footage, but it's nice to have a copy. Some of it is truely interesting. The Spiderman mythos information in particular is VERY good.
Overall, I rate this one highly on any 'must own' lists. Very recomended.

Sentow had this to say about John Romero:
DVD worked fine on the big TV with the regular flavour DVD player, but with my PS2, the picture stays very grainy and dark, sharpens for a couple of seconds (crystal clarity, oo la la), then goes back to being grainy.haelp
PS2's DVD player is shit... It constantly has issues with not wanting to decode digital tracks correctly, and misfilters all kinds of shit. Thats been my experience with the PS2 player from day one of owning one. First, and third generation.
I bought an APEX 1100W for $69.00 from Wal-Mart. (Had another Apex before it, but it's in the bedroom now. It was only $89.00) which plays DVDs, CDs, PictureCDs, Kodak Catalogs, VCD's, and MP3's. $69.00... Plays every movie I own beautifully. No issues with my decoder or video setups. Perfect little player.

No wonder your financially troubled Fae. Pawn all that stuff and you'll be set.
Most of this was gotten before I hit where I am now.. (TV is almost 2 years old now) Other of it were gifts, and strays picked up at deals.
Unfortunately, the amount you would get pawning this is next to nothing. At most we'd end up with a few hundred. Which if it comes down to the wire, thats what will happen. Otherwises it's fucking robbery vs the investment made.

Exactly.
HOWEVER, I have REPEATEDLY offered up my setup for the Texans around here and gaming/movie/pizza night possibilities.
Okay, Fae. We need to make some plans here.
How about next weekend, I come over, and we can watch Spider-man?
