It has a low chance of being resisted on many mobs due to its poison check.
The spell delivers 325 damage every tick for 7 ticks
VERY NICE. only a 4/1 ratio but I can live with that for 2200 damage in 42 seconds. Our manapool is probably going ot go through the roof anyway with PoP.

It's disease resistance check makes it rarely resisted.
Umm pardon me while I change my underclothes. Very nice spell. SLighly long duration but for the ammount of damamge it is doing I don't care. Stack this with Funeral pyre and Blood of thule and well... Ouch.
I am overall very happy with this round of changes to the Necro spell list. Our Lich has also been upgraded to 62/50 on the health to mana conversion. Our pet buff has improved slightly and I don't feel I can comment on the pets themselves till we see them in action.
On that note does anyone know who Saryn is? There are a lot of spells with that name in them but I am not familiar with it...
Oh well.. Another thing that deserves note. Enchanters get Illusion Froglok... [ 10-11-2002: Message edited by: Azizza ]
And mages get to summon a new fishing pole. =\ However I did see where they get to summon an Item that casts gate. That is pretty cool in my opinion.
No seriously.. It's good to see they're getting upgrades like this. They've deserved it for a bit.

The mistress of Torment and Pain!
Born a woman of striking beauty, she now rules the Demi-Plane of Pain, a hot, damp and uncomfortable place with no flat surfaces on which to walk. Instead the ground is cluttered with small, closely placed, stalagmites of smooth obsidian. Saryrn busies herself by spending personal time with those cursed enough to live in her realm. She captures and torments her subjects mentally and physically and completely at random. The length of their torment before she releases them again, is also completely random - based mainly upon her whims. Those who fall into her hands may suffer but a few moments or for months at a time. All live with the fear that at any time, she may choose them as a partner.

If they put it that high, I'd have to guess that it would make you basically nonKoS to 90% of mobs.
Walk around Seb with impunity!

Well, since 90% of the end gmae enchanter base has hunted in Seb, and fought frogloks in TT for their key to seb, I highly doubt that. And I'm not KoS to Live Guk anyway.

Illusions > Faction in most cases, from what I've noticed.
Maybe there'll be a frog plane, though.

No, They help. Some more than others. I'm still KoS to Clerics/Paladins/Rangers/Druids in Gfay and Felwite, even as a wood elf and high elf.

Faction = Racial modifier + faction modifier + religion modifier.
At level 65, it does the SAME AMOUNT OF DAMAGE as the level 65 mage nuke.
For all of 65 more mana...which is near meaningless to necros who will regenerate that in one fucking tick.
You all have your DoTs...and now you can nuke as well as mages.
Wheeeeeeeeeee

what about the cast/recast time?
like, it looks pretty bad on that spell, or is that normal?

Sun Vortex costs 400 mana, does 1300dmg, takes 6 seconds to cast and has an instant recast time.

So will FPoK, Saryns Kiss/Embracing Darkness, Blood of Thule and Dark Plague all stack together?
Unless they have an affect that isn't listed here and will cause problems then yes they will. They are all from seperate spell lines and are upgrades to spells that currently stack as far as I can tell.. I don't even have the heart to add up the DPS that all that would cause over the course of a battle.

For a necro generaly yes it is. Our DDs are meant as a latst ditch kind of thing by this level. Our main damage is our DOTs and pet. This is more for when the mob is near death and the pet is getting tooled down bad. Our current nukes have longer casting time I believe and do half the damage.

Funny isn't it, VI takes away Mage utility under the premise that mages are good for nuking, yet plan to give other classes nukes equivilent or greater then mages?

Oh, but mages are respectable damage dealers! Oh yes!
And, normally I wouldnt have a beef with this spell. But...It beats the heck out of anything we get UNTIL 65. And at 65, our spell is BARELY better at all. the difference being 4 seconds of recast time, and 65 mana. The mana making no difference to a necro.
Necro pets have been creeping up on mage pets in power. It used to be a wide margin that mage pets were over necro pets. our DDs used to be vastly better than anyone but a wizard. Our nukes were about 80% of a wizard's power.
Now Wizards nukes more than double our nukes for damage. Druids and necros have better nukes than us. Necro pets will likely continue to creep up on mage pets.
Necros still excel when it comes to DoTs. They get highly unresistable lifetaps. They get skin spells. They get root. They get more efficient and bigger and cheaper pet heals. They get the lich line for mana regen.
Mages get pets that for NOW beat out necro pets. Our nukes beat out a necro UNTIL PoP. And...thats it. We give up EVERYTHING else to have the nukes and pets. We give that all up to be an offensive powerhouse.
Well, now necros who can do far more are closing in and surpassing us in power. Druids who have much more utility than a mage are closing in and surpassing us.
Our ONLY saving grace, Trans Rods, are gone. They were our mana regen. They were what made us needed on raids.
I hope you understand why I am unhappy.

If these changes go through, yup.
How long have I been saying all I wanted was another good 1 minute DoT in endgame and a faster casting darkness?
Now I get what I ask for and MORE? It's like they heard me!
Maybe they finally listened to all the hate letters I've sent over the past three years.

Woe is me.
And Deth. *kick*
I don't have confidence right now. Im sorry, but Verant sees us as respectable damage dealers, or so they say.
YEt they take away one of our tools that massively increased our DPS (Its true. Many studies from log parses pre mod rod nerf and using the stats and such of the nerf rod as of the next patch...we lose 10-40 DPS.)
Im not the only mad mage. And I'm quite civil. Click the MAge Tower link in my sig, get a load of some of the mages. My god.
Mages have given Verant benefit of the doubt before. Took em about 2 years to fix alot of problems for us.
Necros tried to give verant benefit of the doubt, they are JUST NOW tossing them a bone.
By my estimates, mages will see something finally around 2004.
Of course, before then our epic pet will see 2-3 nerfs, and all it will do is hold our beer so we dont spill it while fishing. [ 10-12-2002: Message edited by: Falaanla Marr ]

Dont forget! At level 63 you get the DD that is superior to the mage DD!
But...hell. I'm havin fun with DAOC. [ 10-12-2002: Message edited by: Falaanla Marr ]

Erf. 64, 1100 dmg, 300 mana.
Balanced by its cast time and recast time though, you'll be able to get 2 of your nukes off during that 1.
Not to mention. Enc DDs will partially resist
And don't forget even with Tash, Magic Resistance is still one of the highest mob resistances in game, which means either the spell will rarely see its max damage, or won't even be bothered with casting unless the enchanter is farming. The most common scenario will be the 2nd. [ 10-12-2002: Message edited by: Skaw ]

Not to worry!
At level 65, they get "Summon Superior Whine". This stacks with all lesser whines, and increases the length of their stick. It also automatically spreads to other nearby classes.
