Is there any significance to the bashable statues, or are they just there to smash?

Mooj obviously shouldn't have said:
Smashy Smashy.
I like the shattering sound they make when your weapon hits.
that description is all the reason you need
*SMASH*
"Why the hell did you do that?!"
"It looked at me!"

Actually, they have to do with the spike traps. They're all pawns, and thus move and attack like pawns... that should tell you how to avoid the spike traps.
Ah, so, that would mean...
1. The pawns that have moved away from the first row have 2 spike traps to the front and either side (diagonals), thus being the pawns' "attack".
2. The pawns that are on the first row have spike traps on the same sides and distance as those described in 1., but they also go further, to two spaces forward and on either side.
Am I correct?

I don't remember exactally where they all are, sorry. But, smashing the pawns disarms the traps.
Smash away, and walk across. Or, leave them be, and get skewered.

Take at least 1 level of rogue, just for detects, and sneak attack damage bonus.
