I've already checked out the Dwarven Warrior Newb Quests, and found them to be completely ass. That armour SUCKS. Suck suck suckity suck sucks. Blah.

However, I haven't tried out the Qeynos Warrior Newbie Quests (Humans and Half-Elves) and I was kinda wondering if they even got newbie quests, because some races didn't.

Qeynos has quests. As well as Surefall. They went in before the dwarven stuff did.

SFG Ranger armor isn't too shabby. Got a nearly-full-suit (don't have the bracers) on my half-elf ranger. very tasty.

Whaddaya mean, they suck? They have better stats than a lot of the other warrior newbie quest armors.

banded armour > Newbie quests if you are a meleer

By the time you can get a full suit of it, you have enough PP to buy a full suit of banded

Unless you're a fashion whore like me and use the armor to replace banded you already had, like my ranger and paladin have.

if you're doing them on your own it can take for hell and ever. Lyinar and I got the SFG Ranger armor in a night (with assistance from Taylen in smiting verily the dumbass gnolls of Blackburrow).

And the cleric armor for DE's has AC pretty close to banded, plus it grants wisdom. So it's definitely worth getting your greedy mitts on.

The newb armor for DE Mages isn't bad, but it's not all that and a bag of chips. On the other hand, getting married was an excuse for people to drop twinkish gear and massive amounts of cash-producing gems on me, so my opinion there is screwed all to hell.

The gnome necro newbie armor is yummy in the int department. Every piece had some sort of int buff, plus the final task.

The DE cleric armor is great. Lighter than banded, less AC, *but* wisdom on almost every single piece.

And the Surefall ranger armor might be less AC than banded, but it gives stat increases important to rangers.

All in all, the newbie armor I've done or helped get done was definitely worth it.

Umm.. Not likely. He said "Deep in the heart of the orc citadel".

I've camped the throne room for hours to no avail. Ah well, prolly a held item, and I already got 2 +10 int'ers.

If your not a twink, you CANNOT say it sucks and you want better... Hell, a year ago the best a n00b character could have was pretty much just leather/banded and maybe a normal wep, or fine steel... So the n00b armor is AWESOME considering what you'd get at that level normally...

The orc thaumatergist spawns in the big tent over in that cluster of tents near the slaver cave.

BTW, full suits of newbie armor I've successfully quested for (including final task):

Halfing Warrior: Lotsa str and sta on the pieces, and the best damn weapon reward of all the classes and races: 7/25 10sta 1HS

Human SK of Innoruuk: Not bad in terms of stats, kinda lacking but the stuff looks nice. Charcoal colored. I'm the one that sent that pic in, BTW. Weapon was a 5/28 1HS. :P

Wood Elf Ranger: TONS of str and sta, but no wis! Makes me look like a lime-flavored skittle. Weapon was 6/27.

Dwarven Paladin: Probably the best stats I've seen. Good amounts of melee stats and wis. For some reason the arms give me a total of 30ac. Weapon rocks: 11/40 2 BaneDmg: Undead 2wis 10hp 2HS

All the armors save for int casters and monks have the same AC:

BP: 12ac
Legs: 6ac
Boots: 5ac
Arms: 5ac
Bracer: 4ac
Gloves: 5ac
Helm: 5ac

I've found that the sooner the race got their quests the worse the overall stats on their armor. Go to Allakhazam's and check the quest database, compare the DE warrior armor and weapons to the dwarven or wood elf warrior armor and weapons.

I still have a problem with the Gnome SK quest reward...

I mean, it requires level 10'ish to complete, actually higher since it's a group of mobs

By that point you will have the, what, several gold required for a 'Short Sword'?

I know they aren't supposed to be amazing super weapons, but I think that is pushing it

One class per most races have a weapon reward like that, Vorago. The human and DE rogues have a 4/27 piercer, the halfling ranger has a weapon with that dmg/dly. I'm sure there are others.

Well all you new folks in EQ are lucky. You all get newbie armor quests. Back in the old days. When Bronze Armor was the big cheese. We actually had to go out and GET the stuff. Not like now-a-days when there are mobs you just need to kill to get the crap you need

I enjoy having sucky equipment, it can be fun

My dark elf shadowknight in pure newbie armour, wielding a giant miltia longsword bought off a merchant was great

People always commented on how my equipment sucked

I told them to either to either do something about it in the form of money or items, or just stop whining

Sure, I could have twinked him, but it was more fun getting it myself

Newbie quests aren't bad. They're a decent armor sets before the mid-level armor quests (Lambant, Totemic, Ivy-Etched, etc.) Plus they give some decent stats (which often tend to matter a bit more than just AC). Granted, some of the stuff is a real pain in the ass to get (Read: After camping for all the calcified pieces for my Dark Elf SK's armor quests, I had THREE backpacks full of regular bone chips).

It's been out for months at least now. Saroc got his last Spring I think. Handy for the beer parties. I keep it around just for that case with him too. It's the second stage quest, the first stage gotten with 4 Goblin Warbeads or something, the second requireing trips to Unrest and running around to FP and a final stop in Oasis. (Unless of course they changed the quest recently. )

The Initiate/Disciple/Warden quests have been in the game for a while now. It's just newbie armor and the final task resulting in a newbie weapon (Or in the gnome caster case, IIRC, it's a book) that were just put into the game.
