Chrono Trigger is one of the greatest, most entertaining games ever made. Legend of Dragoon also ranks up there.

Undecided. I don't have the patience for full-out console RPGs, I prefer Action-RPGs much more. This is why I have a bit of a bias towards games like Secret of Evermore, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, Diablo, and NeverWinter Nights. Good, RPG-style story and world, without all of the boring filler during battles that only serves to waste your time. The only way my patience will kick in is if I'm playing Tabletop/Internet D&D, and even then I tend to get a bit impatient.

Regardless, I've seen some damn fine RPGs, including but not limited to FFX.

Tie between Chrono Trigger and FF7.

Both were games that made people sit up and say "Holy shit! You can do that?". Plot, graphics, and gameplay were top notch in both of them. They set standards that others (and Square itself) still measure by.

I believe in the existance of magic, not because I have seen proof of its existance, but because I refuse to live in a world where it does not exist.

FFVII was too damned annoying to be a good one.

The story annoyed me, too. Seemed like they couldn't decide *how* they wanted to things to be with Cloud. Definitely not one of the better ones I've played.

I didn't get to play *too* far into Vagrant Story (I played it as a rental and I haven't played it since I found it on sale yet), but what I did play, intrigued me greatly. I need to finish that one sometime.

FFVII was adequate. But it was way too much platformer over RPG for me. And not enough puzzles, like in former FF games.

The way Chrono Trigger was tied up so neatly appealed to me. I liked going to the different past times, and seeing the effects of things that had happened, or seeing what my actions were going to do to the future. I really got a feel for the characters' personalities, needs and desires. I gave a damn what happened to them.

The only ones I really cared about in FFVII were Aeris, Yuffie and Cid. Cloud I hated, Tifa I hated and the rest I tolerated. The story also had too many twists and going back around on itself for me to enjoy. I like something like CT better, which has twists, but logical twists, and a clear idea of what it wants to say.
