Most people generally stay the same weight as long as they do the same thing everyday and eat the same food. You don't just keep gaining weight as long as you keep doing what you usually do day to day. I've been 180lbs for about 2-3 years now because I eat the same foods and do the same activities which I've done throughout those 2-3 years.

My question is, does Exercising really help in the long run losing weight wise? If I start eating foods that give less calories, but still do those same activities, would I lose weight slowly overtime? Kind of like my body conforms to the weight I should be by the calories I am eating.

Makes sense?

2k calorie input and 2k calorie output weight stays same

3k calorie input 2k calorie output weight increase

1k calorie input 2k calorie output weight decreases

1k calorie input 3k calorie output is faster

This is the basic idea between dieting and and exercise that I jsut kinda typed.

So unless Im completely off then you should lose weight if you eat less and do the same things, or if you exercise more

I used to eat tons upon tons of food. Bigass dinner every night, snacks all through the day, etc. (Granted, I was still growing at the time, and I have stopped now, but thats beside the point.)

Last december, I just started eating less. No extra sourcream with my potato, no dessert, three decent meals a day instead of 50 bajillion snacks.. but I've done the same things as far as exercise.. and yep, sure enough, the weight has come off.
It was slow at first, but I've lost more then 45 lbs, and it didnt take much.

Good luck to you, Delid.

Cardio-vascular exercises are the best ones for losing weight. Good examples are swimming (properly, not just splashing around), skipping rope, and jogging.

Skipping rope is the most intensive kind, even above sexual intercourse.

You do of course have to take into account the fact that if you are worrking out you probably are gaining muscle mass, depending on what your doing. So just because you may not be losing weight doesn't mean that you aren't being effective in working out.

That may be so, but sex is far more fun.

Aerobics are not good for the body in the long run, although they are around the best for weight loss. The strain you put on your bones and joins and body with aerobics overtime is detremental to your health.

Sex is very good for your overall health and for weightloss. Swimming is also superb.

Jumping jacks, jumping rope, and jogging are all very good, but lead to other problems down the road.

Toning, or extensive weight training is not good for weight loss. You will lose some, but not much. However you can turn fat into muscle this way. The downside is stopping the regim means you gain more weight than you toned or lost on the rebound.

Low carb diets are harmful to your health, be very careful if taking on one of these diets. Lowered calorie count is better. Overall you just need to find your medium of comfort for your metabolism. Intake vs outake. Overtime you will continue to lose weight, and also not suffer the negative effects of rebound.

Hehe since I've started working out 2 weeks ago, I've had more of a craving for milk and green olives. Someone please explain.

Where are you getting that?

Everything I've ever read about low carb diets says they're nothing but good. And no, I'm not just reading commercials.

If you're only 180 pounds, you don't want to lose weight...unless you're like less then 5'5 tall.

I'm not planning on losing weight, though I could afford to lose an inch or two off the belly. Was just curious

Im not talking the low pasta, low bread rules.. There are some diets that require an almost total carb cut in your diet. Your body needs carbs to function, this is why athletes before a match usually carb out. depriving your body of carbs is counter productive, as it saps energy and productivity.

On the other end however, if your carb intake is to high, and your output too low. You're producing fat which can be just as bad.

I used to weigh about 170-180 three months ago, now I weigh 147. I'm 6'0''. I used to eat pizza and fries every single day at school and barly ever exercise. I came home, turned my PC's on and never went outside.

Now every morning I wake up, take a bike ride, eat just enough to stay healthy. I haven't ever felt as good as I do right now. I can goto a pool party, fearless of saying 'oh that kids kinda fat'. Luckly, I was never the 'fat kid' I was just the not exactly skinny kid.

Now people tell me I'm anarexhic(spelling!), just because people have never seen me skinny before. Time for me to start lifting weights and get toned!!

Ditto. They think I have an eating problem (note: they eat all kinds of crap) just because I eat extremely healthily.

my sister is 5'1. she used to weigh 190. she now weighs 115 flat. shes a real health buff, works out a lot, eats like crazily good for you stuff, de-tox drinks, you name it.

maradon: about the carb things, people in the 80's and early 90's thought you should eat all carbs, but in fairly recent studies theyve realized to lose weight, its best to stay away from them. white bread too, i forget why, but it isnt as good for you as other breads.

Marching band really keeps you in shape. Seriously. Best shape I've ever been in was during marching band in high school.
