I just got a pop up add from your fourms. I was reading a thread, finished and clicked Innouruuk's House of Pancakes, bam pop up.

I am not running anything else that would have done a pop up, only mIRC and AIM.

What's this thing do?
That would be sooo cool if it wasn't going to hurt us.

One word: Spyware.
I was in the Virgin Islands once. I met a girl, we ate lobster, drank piƱa coladas. At sunset, we made love like sea otters. That was a pretty good day. Why couldn't I get that day over, and over?

I got a popup and I have no spyware, at least according to my software

I haven't gotten any pop-ups since I killed my spyware and stopped downloading stuff that wasn't from corporate sites (updates for games, etc.,)

If you're getting popup ads on the forums, then they're coming from some other site, or spyware you have installed. There are no ads of any type on the forums.

About a month ago, someone (I honestly don't recall who) hosted a file that required a certain plugin to view. That plugin came from the Gator corporation (makers of Bonzi Buddy and other such annoyances). By installing that plugin (which I did), you open yourself up to the appearance of random ads any time your browser is open... even if you've been away from your computer for hours.

And, as always, I recommend getting AdAware and using it. A lot. Weekly. And update it a lot. It saves you from Spyware. It gives you goodness.

And keeps the popups down.
