1) Why the hell am I playing a monk?! I should be playing a ranger!
2) Damn, I rushed through that chapter.. I must have missed so much.
and 3) Hmm, who is the best henchman?
So if you're either very bored or actually want to share something, just tell us who your favorite henchman is and why. I'll start:
Sharwyn! Firstly because of the b00bage, of course.. She also has some VERY useful spells (including some healing spells which she, sadly, hardly ever uses), has good ranged skills AND can also pick locks!

Everyone wondered WTF when Niklas wrote:
Having played through chapter one with a monk after finally gettin it I realised thought three things.1) Why the hell am I playing a monk?! I should be playing a ranger!
Probably because level 2 to 9 are pretty much Ranger Hell. 1 they get Dual Weild, and 9 they get spells, which can be a really big help. Until they hit 9, however, they rely on their natural Dual Weild, which only comes into effect when wearing the worst of armour. (Chain shirts, Studded leather, et cetera)
Monks, however, are tiny gods. Their hell levels? 1, maybe 2.

Tomb quest? Loxar? Uhm... Shazbot. I can't think of any other Chapter 1 side quests.

Chapters one and two, Tomi. Traps are a real bizznatch at those levels, and Tomi can disarm most of them. Unless, of course, you're a rogue, in which case Daelan for some melee might.
Chapters three and four, if you're a melee class, Linu would be the best. Traps do almost nothing to you at that point, but monsters, on the other hand, are a REAL bitch. Especially boss monsters. Daelan is good if you're an archer or mage.

That's important.

I just got Tomi because he was the closest mercenary. Excellent at lock picking and trap disarming, and his sneak attacks do lots of damage. Then again, right now I'm playing a Half-Orc Barbarian with the Orcblood package, so...

From the book of Niklas, chapter 3, verse 16:

Keep playing the monk. Sure, rangers may look spiffier at a glance, but take my word for it, at high levels, monks are so nasty that they don't even count as "human" anymore. (or elf/dwarf/ect)

You might try saving your character (as opposed to the game itself), and see if you can reload it into chapter one to do it again. I don't know if that works or not.

God I hate henchmen.

Yeah, that's te point.. I thought they were a little TOO powerful and besides, I'm usually a ranger person so it was odd that I played a monk
I now have a ranger, go me.
How many completed the Henchman quests?

Pike wrote this stupid crap:
I used Tomi. Had funny attack lines and picked locks saveing me from bashing them all. I just set him on ranged combat and leave him be.

Well, I got Tomi's, but no one else's. I'm not some kinda super quester guy or anything, I just kinda... Get quests. I dunno, really.
1) She's pretty.
2) She can heal.
3) She can buff.
4) She can damage.
5) She can hold her own in melee.
6) She can open locks.
I can disable traps myself as a Ranger, believe it or not, and if I can't, then I can break it, so I don't need Tomi or Daelan.
I still need backup, and if the cleric bitch could do anything more than heal, I'd take her. Boddynock is just out of the question.
I spend a fortune on potions, but I take care of myself just fine.

Uhh.. no..
Rangers get spells at fourth if your Wis is 12+, if not you get them at 6th.
Having multiple favored enemies actually HELPS in this game, of which you get many.
Chain Shirts negate Duel Wield.
Double Weapons in the hands of a Ranger is ungodly. Double Sword is just SICK... ESPECIALLY if you have Sharwyn buffing you.
Scimitar/Shortsword combo in the hands of a Ranger is ungodly. (Weapon Speeds appear to be in effect.)Again this is just SICK. Especially if Sharwynn is buffing you.
Rangers rarely rely on any inherant abilities besides duel wield, they are as much a fighter as a fighter in DnD, minus extra feats. Which is neither good nor bad. They also have more access to survival skills. Stealh Mode is your friend.
Monks are insane, but no more so than any equal level character used effectively. Although damage wise, and speed, Monks rule. You do pay for this though..
Ranger, Sorcerer, or Monk are my classes of Choice. With the point buy system, it is realitve unwise to multiclass in NWN. I don't recomend it. Unless your class is complimentary. ie Ranger/Rogue, Fighter/Ranger.
I choose Sharwynn as a henchman for variety. She covers all the bases.

A sleep deprived Faelynn LeAndris stammered:

Even third? She turned me down when I offered...
I'm finding that Fireballs are good at opening groups of chests all at once. It kinda sucks that there's no really good spell for that at fourth level. Needless to say, I don't even have Red Tiger smash stuff open anymore.
Oh yah. Hasting Red Tiger is fun, he's nasty when you do that.

Faelynn LeAndris wrote this then went back to looking for porn:
Smart be me.
THANK YOU for saying it.
If you weren't gonna correct him, I was.
But the rest of the time I've got Daelen with me. Let me put it this way, early in Chapter 2, there's this level 27 lich you have to fight.... well, Daelen and I killed him with neither of us getting below "barely injured". (Had on barkskin and bless, with myself speeded.)
At this point, I'm able to do enough damage quickly enough (I get 3 attacks per round) that things simply don't stay alive long enough to hurt much.
I haven't used any of the other henchment except the three listed above. But I did complete all of their chapter 1 quests. I've got Daelen's chapter 2 quest done already and I've got the component for Grimgaw's chapter 2 quest, but he hasn't reached that part of his story yet. /shrug
