They just showed several showings of this movie on Cartoon Network last night, and somehow, I was able to see the entire thing.

I liked it. It's a great piece of animation, but it's best part is it's great story and dialogue.

Discuss.

I agree. The Iron Giant is one of the best animated works I've ever had the pleasure to see.

YES.

Wasn't it a Disney production? I found that hard to believe.

They didn't have a midnight run because of that movie, I was pissed, then fell asleep.
What's this thing do?
That would be sooo cool if it wasn't going to hurt us.

That movie should've down a lot better in the theatrical run. It had something for both children and adults to relate too. Dammed American belief that all animation means cartoon which means kiddy.

Great movie. Interesting fact Lyinar pointed out to me last night when she watched it: Vin Diesel did the voice of the giant. Go figure, eh?

Best animated movie to come out of North America, at least.

I love the movie, but the only downside is that it's obviously being used as a means of plugging the PPG movie. I mean, I want to see it, but I'm becoming overwhelmed since EVERY commercial break has nothing but PPG ads !

They just showed the end again.

It still gets to me when the Giant is heading for the missile and he utters that last word..."Superman".

I thought it was great when he goes into offensive attack mode...then stands down. That's what made the "Superman" thing fit for me. Great power, but a big heart.

The "Superman" gets to me, and when I saw it the first time, I almost cried.

But then I saw the ending and was happy happy. And realized how silly I was because I should have realized he wasn't gone, when he had put himself back together before.

I won't turn this into a commentary on iconic heroes, but isn't it interesting how much of an ideal can be conveyed with the title of someone. "Superman"

Yea, I love the movie. I watched it several times. The "Superman" part gets me too.

Also, I love the scenes with that bastard Government agent. "Where ya going slugger? Champ? Cowboy? Bucko? Pal? Where ya goin'? Where ya goin'?"

"OUT!"
