How many remember Watership Down? How many rmemeber the song by Art Garfunkle, Bright Eyes?

If you do, is there any possible way you could share it with me? I've got it stuck in my head ever since we got the DVD.

Bast, or Bastet, or even The breast of this Meri-Ra is the breast of Bast; he cometh forth therefore and ascendeth into heaven (that part is from the Book of the Dead)

Bastet came about later to emphisis the "t".

Yesh! You are correct! And even her cat headed self came about later. She was once a Lion headed goddess who was feirce, and a protector (not Sekhmet) Then later became the more tamed house cat goddess whith her own city, Bubastis, which is were her cult was centered (as in a capital)

She was even a Sun Goddess, untill the Greeks meddled (ala Anpu/Anubis) and made her a Moon Goddess in connection with Artemis because of her own connection with cats. The Greeks veiwed cats as a moon animal...

Even over the millenia's Bast is still one of the most popular goddesses from Eqypt. There is even a temple out here in WA deticated to her (though the lady probaly did it, so she can keep her cats, after the law enforcment people threatened to have them taken away..) hehe.

It's simple really. Aside texts, lioness's heads have a squarer muzzle (even century old ones) while house cat's have a shorter more thinner muzzle. (I payed attension during this part in art hystory, and it helped that the Boston art museum had a rather exstensive egyption section up while I was there.)
