That song, although beautiful, just made my list of the most depressing songs ever. Right up there with "Dust in the Wind" on my list of "beautiful songs guaranteed to put you in a depressed funk"
Some rather nice covers of it out there, though.

Nine Inch Nails - Something I Can Never Have
Stabbing Westward - Seep (not really depressing but very creepy)
and On My Own from Les Miserables
David Usher - Babyskin Tattoo, St. Lawrence River(that song makes me publicly cry), and F Train get to me a lot. New stuff is more upbeat, though pop-sounding.
Nine Inch Nails - The Big Come Down (sparked possibly a resurgeance of my old friends Depression and Bad Self Esteem), Something I Can Never Have
Moist - Gasoline (have to really listen, though... the song itself is damned good but almost everyone dosen't know what it's about)
Bush - Comedown
Radiohead - Creep (classic one. especially to those of us who have little/no opinion of themselves)
Great. Now I feel like writing. Thank you .

Anything from Pink Floyd.
Pink Floyd's "The Wall" album had some depressing damn songs. "Comfortably Numb" is also on the list of beautiful depressing songs. Audible alchemy is what it is.

A lot of people disagree with you.
hmm aside Suicide is Painless and Dust in the wind... World that I know by Collective Soul.. Butterfly kisses by I *think* Mark Cohen (makes me cry *every* time I hear it)
If you listen to it with that title in mind, it is kind of depressing.
