Just watched the original MASH movie. And it had, in its opening credits, the original version of "Suicide is Painless" with the lyrics, etc.

That song, although beautiful, just made my list of the most depressing songs ever. Right up there with "Dust in the Wind" on my list of "beautiful songs guaranteed to put you in a depressed funk"

Some rather nice covers of it out there, though.

Every song I listen to a lot is prolly depressing in some way .

David Usher - Babyskin Tattoo, St. Lawrence River(that song makes me publicly cry), and F Train get to me a lot. New stuff is more upbeat, though pop-sounding.

Nine Inch Nails - The Big Come Down (sparked possibly a resurgeance of my old friends Depression and Bad Self Esteem), Something I Can Never Have

Moist - Gasoline (have to really listen, though... the song itself is damned good but almost everyone dosen't know what it's about)

Bush - Comedown

Radiohead - Creep (classic one. especially to those of us who have little/no opinion of themselves)

Great. Now I feel like writing. Thank you .

Zorc: Yes, I was busy destroying the world (laughter) Slaughtering millions. (Laughter)

Pink Floyd's "The Wall" album had some depressing damn songs. "Comfortably Numb" is also on the list of beautiful depressing songs. Audible alchemy is what it is.

Space Odyssey by David Bowie.

Sadf.

You smell that? Do you smell that? ...Napalm, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that. I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed for twelve hours. When it was all over I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory.

Surrounded by familiar faces with no name
None of them know me
Or want to share my pain
They only wish to bask in my light
Then fade away
To win my love, to them a game
To watch me live my life in vain
When all is done and the glitter fades, fades away
They'll get theirs eventually
And I hope I'm there

In the 60s, "Puff the Magic Dragon" picked up the secondary name of "Innocence Lost".

If you listen to it with that title in mind, it is kind of depressing.

I believe in the existance of magic, not because I have seen proof of its existance, but because I refuse to live in a world where it does not exist.
