Our Lady Peace rox~

====Superman's Dead====
Do you worry that you're not liked
How long till you break
You're happy cause you smile
but how much can you fake
An ordinary boy an ordinary name
But ordinary's just not good enough today

Alone I'm thinking
Why is Superman dead
Is it in my head
We'll just laugh instead
You worry about the weather and
Whether or not you should hate

Are you worried about your faith
Kneel down and obey
You're happy you're in love
You need someone to hate
An ordinary girl an ordinary waist
But ordinary's just not good enough today
Doesn't anybody ever know that the world's a subway
=============================================

====Blister====

Lately I can't breathe
Waiting they're chasing me
No one listens but i'm ok with it

Only I wonder why
If only my hands weren't tied

The world's a blister
But i'm ok with it

What if I was there
What if I was scared
I'm waiting for...

They're at my door
But I'll be back again

Lonely, I'm wandering
Patrolling for enemies
No one listens but I'm ok with it

Didn't they break up? Haven't heard from them in a long time.

I liked some of thier music. Kinda dissapointing they were a one-hit-wonder.

I like their recent song "Gravity". Yes, I am a hopeless romantic. (Insert wistful sigh here.)
The trouble is that we have a bad habit, encouraged by pedants and sophisticates, of considering happiness as something rather stupid. Only pain is intellectual, only evil interesting. This is the treason of the artist: a refusal to admit the banality of evil and the terrible boredom of pain. - Ursula K. LeGuin ~ The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas

Quite the contrary. All I hear on the radio or CD players and such is OLP.

I guess it would help if I listened to the radio once in a while, eh?

How many albums do they have out now? 4?

Pick one. Whether or not any of the songs are a hit doesn't detract from the quality. Their drummer is damned good. I have 2 of their CDs, myself. Though I prefer Clumsy over Spiritual Machines, and if I had Naveed, it would probably be my favorite.

Maradon, their new cd comes out on the 18th
Entitled "Gravity"
And yes, Mike Turner their guitarist left for creative differences or something...but they have a new guy...Steve Mauzar

Their new single "Somewhere out there" is amazing.

And they are not a One Hit Wonder...This is their 5th album coming out.

Lets go through all their singles shall we?

  • the birdman
  • starseed
  • Naveed
  • superman's dead
  • automatic flowers
  • 4am (my fav)
  • clumsy
  • One Man Army
  • Is Anybody Home?
  • Thief
  • Life
  • In Repair
  • Somewhere out there

hardly a one Hit Wonder....Just seems like it to you guys in the US because you don't have a regulation that enforces all Canadian radio and television music stations to play a minimum of 30% Canadian music content.

For Everyone: Download "All for you" and take a listen...Papa roach kinda music meets Raine Maida's singing

Well obviously, but I don't think they got as much exposure after Naveed and Clumsy. Pop Culture(TM) wasn't big on them after the initial excitement died down, so us USAians didn't hear as much about them. (I could be wrong, I don't really know the history.)

Actually, they got more exposure for Happiness isn't a fish you can catch and Spiritual Machines in the US.
I haven't seen OLP since Summersault 2000...and that was in August. They've been too busy covering US dates all over the place, and haven't had a decent Canadian tour yet.

But Naveed and Clumsy have been out since 1994 and 1997 respectively.

They have been pushing the US lately too much I think...their Canadian exposure has gone down a bit. But they still tape their music videos here in Canada....last one for Somewhere out there was taped in Montreal....I coulda gone and been in it. but I think I was busy that weekend.

No kidding. Which would explain why Mara hasn't heard from them in awhile.

I am DEFINTELY guessing there, though, I don't know what/when the last thing he heard about OLP was.

We will see what he has to say!

Jesus, I just remembered!!

OLP played at woodstock '99!

Plus the fact that they have a HUGE fucking US tour....there's only one tour date in my area in Canada. They've got a few Texas shows...and one in TOledo, Ohio.

check their website. http://www.ourladypeace.com/

Fuck....I gotta wait two more days until the cd comes out now

All times are US/Eastern
