Now...what crack-addled nutjob said RID is better than the old stuff? Oh the TOYS are cooler, I'll grant that. And the animation is much cleaner in RID. But just looking at the old stuff, that's not a good thing.
Old mat painting backgrounds, for one thing, had an assload more detail than the backgrounds in RID. Looking at Kup, even when he's standing around in the background someone used squiggly lines and such to denote how mucky he was after fighting the sharkticons.
Even the stuff that wasn't mat paintings that was more or less pulsating background has MUCH more detail than anything you see in RID.
Autobot City > Fortress Maximus.
Hot Rod > that annoying Dodge Viper
Kup > X-Brawn
Big Rig Optimus Prime > Fire Truck Optimus Prime
The ONLY one I like more in RID is Ultra Magnus. And even then it's close.

Calling the attack thing is irritating. Save it for Pokemon type shows. It works there. Don't do it with Transformers.
Man they better not screw up Armada. Especially not with that new comic out that has the badass artwork. That comic's how the cartoons should be; best of the old style, best of the new style.

Galvatron vs Hot Rod. Hot Rod knocks Galvatron down, hauls ass in car mode, does a flip, turns on his headlights. Super ultra laser attack? NO! SHINING HIS HEADLAMPS IN GALVATRON'S FACE TO BLIND HIM BEFORE RAMMING HIM
See that's the sort of thing I like. None of this "Optimus Prime's flashing siren lights are laser cannon of DOOM" attacks.

And by the sick twist of fate, Beast Machines is the worst, heh

I liked Beast Machines. Beast Wars was better, yes (didn't much care for the end of Beast Machines; too final for me), but Beast Machines was kinda cool.

Also ditto, but I never saw the end.

In the end what I think killed Beast Machines was that it became too mature. Beast Wars had a certain cartoony element, with the banter, but at the same time brushed upon mature moments (like when Dinobot died...they didn't dumb it down for kids or anything. He *DIED* Had last words, even cremated his body).
Towards the end, Beast Machines started to become very spiritual and very esoteric. And while that sometimes works for an episode or two, the WHOLE ending of Beast Machines was like that. I thought it was cool, making Primal this zen master sort of guy driven by this massive perceived failure. But I get the impression Mainframe (Canadian animation company that did both series) wanted a third season to finish the story and were told no, it was becoming too mature for the target kid audience (same season had "Los Luchadores", and Mainframe's big flop "Action Man" mind you)
I can say the end here or message it to you. I didn't like the end too much...made things too final.

You may as well say it here. I think I'm the only one around that liked it, but never got to see the end.
So Botanica's plants run rampant...I *THINK* she and Rattrap get together in the end (not sure), yadda yadda yadda
In the end, Primal and Megatron duke it out, both die (and in theory act as guardian programs to the planet) everyone else lives, BA and Silverbolt get their shit straight, all the Cybertronians are restored, and all Transformers live happily ever as technorganic beings.

How.... Ja'Deth Issar Ka'bael.... uughhhhhh:
Supposedly Armada starts this fall on Fox. Mainframe's doing the animation from what I hear. Word on the mecha/anime/robot mailing list I'm part of is that it'll pull together all the divergant series. Give them sort of linear arrangement.

Anyway, Olethros, I'd have to disagree. The toys out on the market now are good. Team Bullet Train is cool. And don't act like the old Optimus Prime didn't have all sorts of bits you could lose. the new one just has more. It's the new Ultra Magnus toy that seems idiotic...he exists solely to snap on to Optimus to form that Omega Prime git.
Anyway to quote Optimus Primal: "Die cast construction; it's a lost art."
