bottom line is, make sure it isnt lots of pressure, or hard for you to follow through with. many people have different methods, whether it be the gym or workout tapes or um..throwing up..wait scratch that one..

workout tapes worked for my 5'1, used to be 185 pound sister, who now weighs 110. she did it through the kind you buy at job lot and cheapo stores..some are an hour (at most) others can be anywhere from 25 minutes-45. they can be a lot of fun, and they reeeally work...they make you wanna eat good too. just find something that balances with your lifestyle go cadga go

Walking does help, my friend. It gets your metabolism working out of that slump that computer chairs put you in. Remember Monkah needs to take it slowly and not overstress himself all in one sitting.

My suggestion is when you are able.. walk (which I know you do already, monkah) and whenever possible.. take your kids for a walk and get out of the house. Esp. now that it is summer. =) It also counts for great quality time with them.

Get on the floor, flat on your back, with your hands under your bum for support. Now lift your legs six inches off the ground and hold it there. You'll feel the burn within seconds. The Army calls this Six Inches for the obvious reasons.

Or move your legs up another foot off the ground. Now move your legs up and down in a scissor-like motion (one going up, one going down), making sure they dont go more than a foot from their starting point. This is called the Butterfly.

Both exercises are tough and good. They work the abs (you strain them to keep your legs in the air) as well as your upper leg muscles (you strain them to keep the legs in motion).

no matter what you do, always warm up, and cool down. warming up can be as easy as breathing techniques and arm circles. cool downs are the same thing. both prevent pulled muscles and safetly bring your heart rate to normal.

I suggest this, or doing calisthenics whenever you walk through a doorway

-Eat a lot of protein. Lay off glycemics.

-Do cardios every other day. Go for a walk, or bike ride for an hour.

-Do abdominals with cardios.

-Visit the gym (or the Y) once in awhile (once a week or so, if you can afford).

try walking/jogging
try swimming
try cycling
try those crazy exercise machines at the gym (cardio)

find something you enjoy, and do it.
And drink lots of WATER. 3-4 litres (1 gallon) per day is a good number to shoot for. Gets toxins out of the body, making you more healthy. It is very hard to get too much water.

Tons of water = good.

I drink nothing else, I'm so boring.

Currently, I work out twice a day on an eliptical trainer. Kinda like a bike machine, but it works the whole body.. not just your legs. It's a fantastic cardiovascular workout, right up there with skipping (jumping) rope. Although I look hilarious while on it.

Too much water can also be a bad thing, depending on your own personal situation.

I drink 8-10 pints a day. You don't really need any more, unless you live in arid conditions.

I'm still in the I can eat anything and not gain weight so I may not be much help but I can give you some suggestions. Walk, run, or ride a bike for awhile for your cardios. I don't suggest jogging because it is pretty hard on the knees. I also find doing sprints then walking to get your breath back more fun, don't know if it is as good as jogging or not but oh well. Then while watching tv or being on the comp take time during comercials and do as many push-ups as you can do and still be able to do more by the next comercial break. You don't want to do too many because then you can't get all of your reps in. Follow the push-ups with sit-ups or leg lifts. If you do the push-ups right they work the abs a little but then the second exercise just pushes it over the edge. In my experience you abs recover a lot quicker then your arms so you can afford to do those to exaustion, but it is mostly whatever you find lets you get the most in.

Hope I wasn't too incohearent during all that babble. Enjoy and don't hurt yourself.

Keep it up, dude. It ain't easy, but it's worth it.

It takes a month or two of doing things right just to get in the habit. After that, it won't seem like you're dieting.

Small changes also help in a big way.

For example; if, at the start of your diet, you simply have to eat something you're used to.. choose a healthier version.

Like brown bread/sugar instead of white.
