Handspring Visor with the Springboard slot

Runs PalmOS so it's like your good 'ole palm pilot, but it's cheaper, and the extension slot at the back allows for some truly geeky stuff.

(gps receiver, wireless LAN, turn your PDA into a mobile phone, more memory, etc.)

Got one myself a year ago and it's most awesome

Handsprings are dead units. Great design though... I'm pondering getting one and trading in the Palm VIIx that I have.

The Palm VIIx that I have isn't too bad, but I wish I had waited a month or 2 and gone for the Palm 705....

What I really want is the 705 in color.

I have a old Palm IIIxe. My parents got me it for Christmas. Looked pretty cool, I hooked it up with games and every application you could imagine, used it a few times. Showed it off. Got the ooo's and ahh's.

But now it sits beside my bed, as a dust catcher. Was a waste of money for me from the start(even though it wasnt my money). I never really used it for anything but games in class.

I have a Handspring Prism and I love it.

Look into the Treo line--they have some with built-in communication, and some without.

Also, I hear good things about the Clie, but I hate Sony so don't know that much about it.

Yeah Handspring were great. But they are pretty much out of the running now.. for PalmOS based Machines Sony makes the Best out there right now. Can't remember the model number but I remember it runs about 550 or so. However it is without question the best unit on the market.

Why is everyone saying Handspring is dead?

Their Treo line is cool as hell, I think. It's just a smaller, nicer version of what I have with my Prism/Visorphone combo.

For just a simple PDA, the Treo 90 lacks the phone part, but is still a cool PDA with an SD expansion slot.

I wish they'd stuck with Springboard, but that's cool, too.

If you are going to get one, the best deal from palm is the m125 or m130. take it from someone that works at office depot and sells these all the time.

I've got an old palm 3e (it's 2 megs...) and a collapsible keyboard and i use that for all my note talking in class, kicks ass. That way i just hook it up to my desktop at home and i'm good to go...

Do not think of it as a replacement for your regular computer, it's a replacement for the computer you had 6-10 years ago.

It can do lots, just not as fast or as much as a desktop/laptop.

Im lookin at the M500 at Staples. Also checking out a couple of diff handspring models.

Also looked at the Toshiba PocketPC e310.

Im wantin something thats VERY VERY thin (Visor Edge and Palm m500)

BUT If i get a palm m500 (for 249 after the discount at staples this weekend) you can get a FREE M105. Would give that to my grandpa most likely, he could use one when out doing appraisals.

and machina, i get that. Im notn eeding it to replace my main system or anything, just somethin to carry all the phone numbers, serial numbers for products we use at work, passwords, blahblahblah. And if my business idea gets off the ground, itll be nice to have then.

Question to you palm/handspring owners: Is there a way i can write and save my exact writing? I know it has that graffiti stuff, but im wondering if i can save my actual writing.

Will likely buy a foldup keyboard for whichever one i buy too...

Sage the problem is that Handspring is focusing to much on toys and not the raw PDA. they have some OK things but thier main line is still to large for what it is. Sony and others have slimline color PDA's out that have higher reselution than the Handspring and are smaller than the Handspring Visor edge which is only Grayscale.

Not dead but they need to work fast.

Look at the Treo line. They're the lightest on the market, from what I understand.
