Supposedly, free CD keys have been e-mailed to EQ subscribers... Thing is, I didn't get one, and I sure could use the extra... So, did anyone receive a key they don't need?

I think they were sent to the E-Mails of people who had an EQ account, which is now inactive

You have to be signed up for some kind of e-mail news letter. If you didn't get one, I think it may be too late now to sign up for the newsletter to get one.

I didn't get one. I allready have enough trash e-mail to sort through, I don't need any from Verant.

Funny how they say that it's a FREE CD key, but once you use it you have to pay the monthly subscription...maybe I didn't understand it but how is that free??

Normally, you have to buy a new copy of EQ to get a new key.

From what i understand, you get one month free, then after that you pay the normal account fees (12.95 a month)

Did you expect a perma free acct?

I would think a free month of a game would have no catch. It is a free month in which you are forced to pay a subscription, and then a free month is tacked onto it.

Give the key free for 1 month, THEN force them to pay

Yeah pretty much it's a ploy to encourage people to get themselves a second account. You (in theory) have all the software on your machine (both copies would use the same files), all that's different is that you have a different key. So if you have the game and three expansions, it's like getting a second "Trilogy" (EQ/Kunark/Velious) account for free rather than paying the 50 bucks or whatever. You'll still need to buy a second Luclin key and a second PoP key (when PoP comes out). But in the meantime it's not too bad.

I'm going to use mine, otherwise I'd fork it over.

I was in the Virgin Islands once. I met a girl, we ate lobster, drank piña coladas. At sunset, we made love like sea otters. That was a pretty good day. Why couldn't I get that day over, and over?

Well, I did get it, and I really dont need it (already have fully updated accounts, and only one computer to play them on anyway.) The key came with a free copy of the origional EQ (that means everything pre-Kunark). Sooo...first person to email me, gets it (no PM, cause I cant just foward it). Aanijadedsky@hotmail.com.

Further, it only contains Classic, Kunark and Velious.

You've still got to buy luclin.

I use(d) it all the time to travel. Worked wonderfully for when Liwenthe hit 12. Went to the Spire, ported to nexus, then down to Erudin, and got all his wonderful 12th level spells, and gated back.

I wouldnt have 4 of my more useful spells without Luclin.. Nor would I have O`Keil's Embers.. Er, not that it does much anyway.

Yeah, I use Nexus, which is one of the only said useful zones. If I recall properly, some people without Luclin have been warped to the Nexus anyway, so if that happens, I DO have the files and can use it. If not, I don't care, I'm building a port whore
