Could someone steer me to a tourney format rules page? I've gotta make this killer deck legal. And is Lin Sivvi baned in ALL formats?

Not sure where exactly, but I imagine somewhere on the wizards.com MTG secton there would have it

Not sure how well a Rebel deck will work outside of Type 2. It always did well because it's enviroment was so limited, but I suppose it's worth a shot in extended

Well, that and because Type 1 is godawful, heh

And by ALL I think that only really counts for two anyways, heh

I doubt they would have it banned in 1 or 1.5, but it's always good to check

Type II - 7th Edition, Planshift, Invasion, Oddessy, Torment, Apocalypse

Type I - Any series with exception of Portal, Portal II, Unglued
*Some restricted and banned cards that are too many to list

Type Extended - Type I where any restricted cards are now banned along with the original banned cards + Dark Ritual is banned as well(I am pretty sure on the Dark Ritual thing).

They are changing Extended (1.5) very soon though. Come this fall, it will only be everything from Tempest and up (No Swords, Force of Will, Dual Lands etc.)

I think he means specific card rares, namely if he can make a basic rebel deck (Hence the Lin Sivvi)

No idea where to find that though

Explain to me again why CoP cards aren't illegal by Wizards standards?

Almost every tournament that isn't sanctioned by Wizards lists them as illegal...

Out of curiousity, just where on the wizards.com site do I DL MTGO, or do I have to go buy it? I looked at the page with the guide L and stuff available that talked about it, but I can't find the actually download on the page.

That's because they don't allow new accounts to be registered, so they took the download off.

If you must, however: http://www.576.hu/files/TheGatering/mtgobeta_full.exe

This comment confuses me

So Magic was good when it was horrible and had cards which were obviously broken when displayed to a large viewing audience of primates?

Oh well, least Wizards is making up for all their past mistakes now

You know, I still can't understand how people enjoyed old magic like that?

My friend has a deck, loaded with most of the power 9, and 80% of the time you die before playing even a single land

And to sum up the single largest problem with Magic...

Counterspells is mass quantity just shoudn't exist, lol

Because they really aren't overpowered? And if your deck is shut down by a single CoP, well, make a deck that works

Ummm... and maybe your local tourny places just don't like CoPs? Are there a lot of new players that play nothing but burn or big creature beatdown(Timmy)?

For cards that merit a banning, look up some of the cards that are banned already

CoPs are just fun in a... fuzzy rabbit sort of way

Also funnier when Judgement comes out and they release the card that makes all damage un-preventable, heh

JUDGEMENT IS FUCKING EVIL

You can un-remove cards from the game? WTF?

Edit: We have CoPs outlawed at school. They're just whorish.

Heh, why? There is no greater joy than popping te CoP and killing the person

Especially if it's the type of person that plays ALL of the CoPs to be safe

Now, if no one plays any form of enchantment removal... whether it's global (Tranquility, Root Greevil), Specific (Disenchant, Hull Breach), or at the very least maybe some bounce (Recoil) and a CoP shuts them down, there is a much greater problem

Want a card to get outlawed? Play Limited Resources in a 3vs3

Locks the game for your opponents first turn, heh

Judgement is awesome for casual play
Wishes in tournament play can only grab from your sideboard, which really limits them

Greetings,

Lists for band/restricted lists for the three main play formats:

Type One
Extended
Type 2

There is also Type 1.5 but it isn't played much these days.

In other MTG news, went to the Judgement prerelease on Saturday. It was fun, but due the almost complete lack of non direct damage creature removal most games were just lines of creatures staring at one another til either time was called or someone decked out. The only people who did really well were those who pulled an unkillable creature, like an Iridescent Angel (sp) or that new 7/7 trample, spiritlink, regen creatures.

Judgement does have some really broken cards in it, and it'll be interesting to see how it effects type2 now.

For example:

Mirari's Wake WG3
All your creatures get +1/+1.
All of your mana producing lands produce one extra mana of their proper color.

In limited that card is godlike, it gets even better in constructed. How about this piece of work:

Book Burning R1
Target player removes the top six cards of their Library and puts them in their graveyard, unless they have Book Burning do 6 points of damage to them.

It's a Skull Scorch on speed, and to top it off it's a common. Anyone who's ever played in a limited tourny knows what this can do to a 40 card deck. In type2 it's harder to play properly due to the large number of threshhold things being played, but in type1 or extended this card becomes so broken it isn't even funny.

It wasn't too bad, and I did have a lot of fun. I got an ungodly pull in the first sealed tourny. Pulled a Call of the Herd, Beast Attack, Rabid Elephant, Wild Mongrel, Seton's Desire, Werebear, Caustic Tar, and Haunting Echos. If you play type2, you know how good of a pack that is. Judgement packs were just as good, pulled an Ernahm, Crush of Wurms, Nantiko Monistary, and a Grizzly Fate. Not going to explain what all those do, let's just say it was an awesome draw, but not good enough to beat those with the unkillable critters. I ended up going 3-1-1, pretty good day considering it's been years sinced I played in a large sealed deck tourny.

Ack! I've been rambling, that's enough for now. =)

Book Burning was actually made for the intent on playing it on yourself, since it insures and instant 7 cards in your graveyard for threshold

It could be used on your opponent, but in most cases you are just helping him out anyways.

Granted it's stupid sick to play on yourself

Especially with the new threshold shivan dragon for 4 mana. That's some serious fast damage

Although the single most broken card is... god, name escapes me, but it's a single blue to search target player's library for 3 cards with flashback and put them into the graveyard. An instant too.

That card is going to see amazing amounts of play with Roar of the Wurm

And why do I never get packs like that? heh

Green/White is going to be pretty scary. Nantuko Monastary and Anurid Brushopper work scaril well with Wrath of God and other creature killing. The phantom creatures were made for armadillo cloak.

I can't wait for it I am assuming (and hoping) that the mtg beta wont finish until after Judgement is out for a while and all the bugs are ironed out
