Woohoo! Finished the series last night. My thoughts :

  • Great story. Import had translation problems, but anyone who plays games on the 'net can decipher it easy.

  • Until the last episode, Parn/Pan sucked. He was a piss-poor hero who had bravery... but no working brain cells. "OMG, AN EVIL PERSON! RUSH HEAD FIRST AT HIM SCREAMING!" However, in the last episode, he was cool. Especially with those two swords.

  • Apart from sex appeal, I don't get why Pirotess (Putaisa) is popular. She appeared only in a few episodes, didn't do anything right, and eventually died to keep the bad guy alive. Well, we assume she died. I haven't watched the 2nd series yet.

  • Deedlit was cool the entire time, plus you saw her b00b in the last episode!

    All in all, I'm looking forwards to the next series. Definitely worth buying

    Maybe it's just in the import, I dunno, the import is the only one I saw.

    But at the end, Parn is holding deedlit (I like the japanese name, Daito, better, IMO) and her dress is all torn up and shit.

    Mog : I dunno, by 'import' I mean that it's a DVD that the case, language, etc, is all in japanese. The only english is the subtitles.

    Yeah, Parn wasn't too bright. He seemed to become more powerful in little jumps, like every 3 episodes. What was up with Kashu (sp?) Was he Parn's dad? He looked a lot like him, anyway. Alright, they never said that, but his father disappeared at the area that Kashu was the king of......and if they say whether or not in the second series, oh well.

    The final scene of the movie, where Parn is holding Deedlit and they're both beaten up and bloody, you can see Deedlit's nipple for about a tenth of a second.

    It's easy to miss since this nipple, like a lot of anime nipples, is precisely flesh-tone.

    Deed's appeal, based on the hentai I've seen, seems largely based on the fact that she's the "good girl" of the series. I dunno. She didn't appeal to me that much.

    Parn was okay. I liked berserker boy better, though.

    I didn't really like any of the heroes too much.

    I liked Ashiara, or whatever the dude's name was. Started out cool, ended up cool, cool all the time

    Watch the second series.. I liked Pirotess AND Ashram better in the "Tales of the Heroic Knight" stuff. It also explains WHY Ashram wasn't exactly a badguy. Just a matter of conflicting desires and points of view.

    Don't bother with Crystania, IMO. Wasn't as good, and Ashram was taken over by some demon thing.

    The Lodoss creators have said that with Parn, they set out to create a very unheroic hero. Yeah yeah, he's got guts, and he's basically a good guy. But he's also a dumb jock Can't even swing a sword without magical aid in the first episode. Tch!
