Wish me luck, if you please. Also, MorbId and Vise the Stompy will be taking this, so they could probably use some luck as well.
I just gotta hope I don't black out or have a wrist cramp from all the bubbling in/writing. Also, this damn throat infection should stop.
Relax. Think of tests as an opportunity.

Advanced Placement. Basically like classes for the smart people who want an ungodly good college transcript.
Its torture in terms of work, compared to the non AP versions of the class.
The DBQ was so easy, because we all knew it was gonna be that.
I picked essays 3 and 4. My essay on Thomas Jefferson and Washington was BAD. :P
Heh, did you all get the Andy Warhol painting? I thought it was him, but I didn't want to guess.

I answered 3 and 4 also.
No, dammit, I said it was Pollock. I knew I should guess, but I really didn't have much of a clue. Figured it was either him or Warhol.
And the DBQ was so lame. I like the picture, though, of the drunkard. Fscking hilarious.
I think I did pretty well, though. Brain's trying to get out of head, but all is well.

Actually, it's a little more than a good transcript. If you do well enough, you receive credit towards a college credit in whatever class you take it in. Not all colleges accept it, but a good majority of them do. You can score 0 to 5, and the more prestigious the college, the higher they require for it to count. I hope I received at least a 3, which is pretty much the lowest score to receive credit.

Really, you should have atleast one, I had 3 my Sophmore year, and 5 my Senior year, it's absolutely necessary. Trust me.
But then again, maybe it's just Georgia. Even the state colleges have developed pretty competitive admissions in the past few years (because of the HOPE scholarship, where a B Average gets you free tuition to state college as long as you maintain that average or higher.)
Oh, and Waisz, I got a 4 on AP U.S. History, It's not too hard. History usually at least sort of makes sense, where as AP Calc just makes your mind cry... [ 05-10-2002: Message edited by: Lashanna ]

3 in sophomore? That's not even feasible for us; usually, it's the senior classes that net AP tests/classes, unless we're talking about different AP items.
Physics, Calculus, Higher tier Spanish classes, Higher English classes and higher up Art make up the majority of the available AP tests.

Sorry, LOL, screwed that up, 3 as a Junior...
Junior Year:
AP Computer Sciences
AP US History
AP Chemistry
Senior Year:
AP Latin
AP Calc
AP Psychology
AP Brit Lit
AP European History
Senior Year : AP Calculus (Passed with a 4 also).
I was too lazy to take the rest. I hate english/physics/chem.
[EDIT] Actually... I don't mind Physics. Chemistry was boring for me. English/History were my worst subjects, not because I did bad in them, I just hated them.
Strangely enough, I loved math and computers. Even took my AP Calculus Class two years in a row because I could get out of doing other elective credits because of it. [ 05-10-2002: Message edited by: Khyron ]

Ah, okay then. My plan is
Sophomore Year:
AP US History
Junior Year:
AP Spanish Language (Spanish 4)
Senior Year:
AP English (Not really sure what type)
AP Comp Sci (Maybe)
AP Calc
AP Physics
It seems to be a pretty sound set of courses. I'd like to start college as a sophomore, but that may be very unlikely.

YES! From a drink with a friend to suicide and death! Go WCTU.

Yep.
Stage one: A drink with a friend
Stage two: A drink to fight the cold.
Stage three: A drink too many.
Stage four: ???
Stage five: Officially a drunkard
Stage six: ???
Stage seven: ???
Stage eight: Crime and killing
Stage nine: Suicide and death
I don't really recall 4, 6, or 7, but the whole thing was funny.
I ended up placing out of 2 semesters of calculus, 1 semester of english, all my chemistry requirements and even was able to use a leftover chemistry credit for analytic geometry.
Saves a lot of time in college if you had really good teachers for the AP classes.

If it melts your brain, then maybe you're not cut out for AP Classes.
I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to get at, Keg...
I know I couldn't handle most AP classes. I'm not as smart as most of the people taking them, and I'm not motivated enough. I'm going to take AP Spanish (4 or 5), AP Brit Lit, and either AP Chemestry or AP US History.
Probably not even that much, but I do want to get into college.
And good luck to everyone who took them.
Has that changed?
--Satan, quoted by John Milton
My mistake. I guess, I thought that AP classes looked better on transcripts. My bet is on that they do both.
[EDIT] And I don't know about the test scores, I've never taken an AP class. [ 05-11-2002: Message edited by: Elethi ]
You're right, though, I'm sure AP classes look good on a transcript.
But senior-year classes really won't help you get into school--most big universities have already decided who they want well before the school year ends. What they will do is prepare you for survival once you get there.
You want to get out of asy many freshman-year courses as possible, because those are the 400-people-in-a-lecture-hall courses designed to weed out the weak and infirm.

Yeah. The part about freshman classes seems like good advice to me.
From what I've read recently, colleges and universities are putting less and less emphasis on the SAT test. I haven't heard much about the ACT. I believe I read somewhere that its a really unfair test. Women, on average, get somewhere around 43 points less on average than men. And overall, people of african-american origins get 93 less points on the Verbal, and 106 points less on the Math. Also, Asian Americans, Asians and Pacific Islanders on the SAT I math was 32 points higher than that for whites.
If you want to read up on the SAT or check some of the figures I used here, click here. [ 05-11-2002: Message edited by: Elethi ]
Especially those claiming bias on math portions.
Bullshit claims like that make me laugh.
On the other hand, much of the reason schools have ceased placing as much emphasis on the tests has to do with them being watered down by those trying to raise minority scores artificially.
Also, doing well on a test, but not doing well in class points to a lack of self-discipline that can directly affect not only how well one does in college, but whether one makes it through at all. So universities are starting to place emphasis back on grades.
Which leads to the grade-inflation problem . . . that makes the whole thing a vicious cycle.
The best advice? Do well in class and do well on the entrance exams and be a member of a team or club of some repute.
