DS or JK2. I have the money for one, and only one right now. Which one has better single player?

Depends on which you like more.

Star Wars

or whatever the hell DS is based off of.

I was in the Virgin Islands once. I met a girl, we ate lobster, drank piña coladas. At sunset, we made love like sea otters. That was a pretty good day. Why couldn't I get that day over, and over?

They're both good games.

I enjoyed the Dungeon Siege single player more. Jedi Knight seemed like Quake III with sabers and force powers to me. Kind of boring, I never really got into it. I had a blast all through Dungeon Siege single player.

Now, I enjoy Jedi Knight multiplayer a ton more than Dungeon Siege multiplayer. DS was fun when you had 8 characters against hordes of bad guys, but not with 1 character. At least, I didn't think it was fun. JK2 multiplayer is a blast and a half. With the additions of force powers and sabers, its a lot more fun online.

Thats what I think anyways.

There are differing opinions on this, obviously. I shall compare the two, since I have both, and enjoy them.

Dungeon Seige:
A wonderful storyline entwined with graphics that occasionally surprise even me, I have yet to find the time to devote to such a large project as going for broke for the root of all evils in the Kingdom of Ehb with a full party of adventurers and packmules.
Whatever skill you use most, you build the most. Nature magic casters using heal wont gain quite as much skill as one should to be in line with the other skills, but it is a well balanced game. Yes, you can be an archer, and a damned good one at that.
Personally, I reccomend focusing on melee/archery, then at some point switching to nature/combat magic (Maybe around the Droog area. They're pretty easy to single out and give decent "Skill") to create an untouchable hybrid.
Multiplayer is just as well, but no packmules, and you can only take yourself into battle. The multiplayer world is just as much fun as the single player world, if not moreso, since you can do the things in it over and over again.
It does get boring after a while, however. There is only so much you can do, such as beating the final boss on SP, then importing to MP and beating the multiplayer campaign by yourself. Either way, its worth what you pay for it.

Star Wars: Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast:
Typical of Star Wars games, it holds true to all the staples, including the intro "A long time ago..." along with wonderful music and an enriching storyline.
The graphics are stellar, as always for the time period of a Lucas Arts game, and innovation is always seen. Particle effects for push/pull, and other force powers give a hint of realism without being overly flashy. It is easy to get lost in this game.
Unlike Jedi Knight I, you cannot choose what force powers you get between levels, thus making level design easier. For example: In Deus Ex, you could be a stealthy operative, or an ungodly powerful tank, firing weapons left and right, mowing down bad guys. Both ways had to be accounted for in every level. Often exploring one path lead to the same place as another.
In JKII, this isnt the case. The levels are planned so that current skills are a challenge to use (Oh god, the horror of jumping puzzles..), while not being overly difficult to figure out. Well, save for maybe Kejim Post, but you can always come to us for help.
Multiplayer was decent, if not overpowered by said heavystance finishing move, and was nerfed in the other direction. Light now rules all. Meh. Either way, its fun to play CTF with force powers, I think.

The choice is yours. Choose wisely. Personally, I got a tad more play out of JKII, simply for the fun factor of jumping 10 feet in the air over a stormtrooper and pulling him into the air with me (Rather forcefully..), then watching him crash to the ground with a rather satisfying *KERSPLUT* sound that sometimes.. just fits.

This is the longest post I have ever made. Go me.
