Had to sit through 3 hours of blantant noise, and horrible screeching sounds past off as vocals, just to get to a 1 1/2 hour set of Manowar. I was sooooooooooo Dissapointed, they SOOOO ruled on stage too.
The DVD kicks ass though hehe.
They needed a bigger stage, the Canyon Club is a really small venue. They did however make the best of it, and thier set ruled.
BTW i got 3 people IRL hooked on MANOWAR :P
quote:
Kloie stumbled drunkenly to the keyboard and typed:
Who was opening for them? I aer the curious.
1st Band... Dunno, they sucked.. Nick Nolte tryin to do Death Metal.
2nd Band: Catastrophic - They sucked, there were no vocals involved aside from scream as loud and fast as you possibly can. (Death Metal is not my thing. It's like screaming, and hoping you can keep up with the music. Which is usually so fast and repeatative it never sounds any different through the entire song.)
3rd Band: ABSU, the vocals suck and they suffered from typical death metal, to fast to be be entertaining music syndrome, but thier drummer positively kicked ass! MAn he was amazing. Hated the music though.
4th Band: Immortal, pure shit. Painted faces ala KISS, seriously bad bad bad vocals, some decent guitar riffs but overall too fast and repeatative. Not to mention attitude issues. Suck.
5th Band: MANOWAR! nuff' said. They kicked much ass, and seeing them live is better than listening to thier CDs. Much power on stage, definite showmen to the core. They ruled that stage, as small as it was, and gave you a show more than worth your money. Unfortunately the pain of the previous bands left you deaf and numb. Next time they better headline a single show.
