quote:
On test the first practical rollout of the spell caster Focus items is underway and they are all summoned no_rent mage items. Its worth noting that these are not the only focus items, but for all intents and purposes these will be the easiest to obtain for quite some time until they add in better ones to existing drop-tables.Starting at level 4 and every spell level after that a Mage can summon:
Choker 4, 24, 50
Mantle 8, 29, 51
Bauble (range) 12, 34, 52
Ring 16, 39, 53
Bracer 20, 44, 54
These have lesser, normal, and greater effect versions of :
- Conservation (Mana cost reduction)
- Diuturnity (Spell duration)
- Destruction (Damage increase)
- Pernicity (Spell casting haste)
- Abatement (Lower aggro)
Qhue of Tunare had this to say from his tests:
The mid 40s bracer gives about a 10% increase in damage (my 675 nuke was hitting for 742) I'm guessing the level 50+ nuking bracer will add maybe 15%?
So the mage-summoned itesm seem to be somewhere in the 10-15% reduction in mana cost, casting time, increase in nuke etc.
I imagine the uber-loot focus items from NPC drops will be in the 20-30% range.
Exciting changes all round!
Nerf Mages.
Edit:It'll be okay as long as wizards get something that doesn't give us enhanced taxi ability. [ 03-17-2002: Message edited by: Waisztarroz ]

Um... just make a mage summon the focus items for you like everyone else.

I don't really hang around mages that much...

Okay, but what about the dropped items mentioned? They'll probably be mage wear only.

Sorry, I'm just pissed that Verant's idea for improving the wizard is to give them a better way to port people.

And? Their improvement for enchanters is upping Memblur efficiency, as well as lowering cost and upping length of Glamour of Kintaz. Your a Taxi, I'm Riot Police. Follow it and be happy.

Yes, you are right. At level 60, we're efficient killing machines. At a few levels before that, we're pretty well off too.
The early part of a wizard's life is hell, though.

Wizard getting better ports was to help the lower game.
That doesn't really help you get into a group...

Neither do my atk buffs.
Rangers are in the same boat as Wizards for the low game. Alot of classes are. Just like with it and become uber at lvl 60.

And Skaw, at least your riot duty gets you into experience groups.

Hi.
Wizards get an innate crit chance with nukes post level 11 now k thx.
And ya know what else? Even if I can nuke for 100 more, you can still nuke faster and more efficiently -- thats where it matters, not the single damage numbers. Plus you get lures. Plus snares, plus ports. hmmm, yes, you are so bad off, right?
Im kinda liking this, im wondering if these will have any other stats on em other than jjust the focus...
and they didnt say a DAMN thing about these being mage-only, dumbass. [ 03-17-2002: Message edited by: Falaanla Marr ]

[QBUh...no. You are still melee. You can be substituted for a tank in a pinch in exp groups, not to mention you can do melee damage in them. You can also SoW and snare. If my group wasn't lacking in healing, I'd take a ranger over a druid, actually.[/QB]
Um... Then why arent I 60?
oh yea.. that is because rangers arent needed and warriors / monks / rogues are taken over them.

And so do Wizard/Druid groupt ports/evacs in 1-way dungeons, such as Chardok.

I'm hoping for resists myself. They would be useful to me on raids since I'm fairly mana ineffiecent and every second chopped off casting time helps my melee. If it is Focus +stats, I'd use them.

Yeah, but people also camp places somewhere else than the zone entrance, begining gate, and exit.
LK in Velks needs wizards/druids, as well. [ 03-17-2002: Message edited by: Skaw ]

No caster changes are live yet...
ALL of them are on test. Caster Balancing IS NOT done.

I know that, but Fal's post made it sound to me like maybe he meant this was introduced LAST patch(I haven't casted a nuke since before that I don't think), so I wanted clarification. Thanks.

Yeah, Im guessing the first in the lines wont have stats, second one may have small ones, 3rd may have even more. Guessing it'll likely be elemental resistances and caster type stats, which wouldnt be all that bad.
They may have +mana on em too.
