Rumors from the Safehouse message boards are that as part of next weeks changes, all hell levels (with the exception of 54 and 59) will be removed from the game.
Since this is just rumor at the moment we can't provide any further details on how Sony may address their previous reasons for not being able to fix hell levels (i.e. it would cause all players who had finished those levels already to gain massive experience).
Wonderful news if this goes through for new players and old players wishing to make alts.

And secondly:
More from the Test Server!
Perhaps one of the more exciting changes made to the game in the last 48 hours on Test is for players Level 10 or below.
According to players who have been enjoying life as a Gnome Paladin or Halfling Ranger, if you die while level 10 or below you now respawn at your bind point with all your gear.
That's right, no more corpses for players under Level 10! This should significantly help in reducing downtime or lost items due to corpse decay. Note: This is only on the Test Server currently.

Heh..no.
There are no hell levels but 54 and 59.

Actually, the post said all hell levels but 54 and 59 are going. 51-53 and 55-58 will not be hell levels.

They never were. Hense, there is no change.

Hell level: Level that requires signifigantly more experience than the level after it.
So Reynar's right, the only post-50 hell levels are 54 and 59.
I am rather unexcited about these changes. Level 45 requires only about twice the experience of level 44, as opposed to level 51 which requires around four times as much experience as 50. Essentially these changes are rather minor. [ 03-14-2002: Message edited by: Maradön? ]
54 and 59 increased by .2 instead of .1 however. They're technically double hell.

If Verant reduces the experience cost for ANY post 50 levels, I will personally saw off my own foot, bake it with garlic and a white wine sauce, and offer it up as sacrifice to Sraeps the God of Britney Spears Albums.

Depends what your definition of hell level is. "My" definition is when the level after the said hell level is 'easier'
In which case, ONLY lvl 54 and 59 are hell levels post 50, since both 55 and 60 are quicker.
51-53, 55-58, and 60 are not hell levels, they just require significantly more exp then the past levels 1-50.
Well at least I dont have to worry bout 54.
Now, you tell me, where are the hell levels? [ 03-14-2002: Message edited by: Maradön? ]
However theory says that I have enough excess XP in 30, 35, 40 and 45 that it should put a GOOD dent into 54 *IF* I keep my XP.

I'm not saying you're wrong RIG, I'm just saying there's no way in hell they're going to make any changes to post-50 hell levels.
Make a positive change that would affect what is now the majority of EQ players?
Impossible!

That's kinda true. Soulbinders, melee bind areas, etc. etc.
Nobody knows for sure if he's at fault, but if he is, the game is so much better off without him.

I thought they got it because Verant screwed up and gave them the bonus Humans were supposed to get.
