You performed your Random Move perfectly! (+6)
You strike a blahblah for 14 damage (+2)
You critical hit for an additional 10 damage!
How much frickin' damage would I have done?

- While soloing some forest lions with me wee l'il Mercenary go Albion!, I would see a message to the effect of "Gained blahblah Experience! (42 camp bonus)."
What's a camp bonus?- I've asked this once before, but it was so long ago, I forgot. In a message like:

- Dual Wield frightens and confuses me.
- Um. I think I overstretched mself with four

1) A camp bonus is the bonus you recieve whenever you go to a new camping spot. Eventually, as you stay there, the camp bonus wears out.
2) First, you have your base damage. So, say, 9 damage. Then, depending on if you performed a move perfectly, if the enemy was weak against that weapon type, etc. then it will add damage to your attack. Say, +2 damage. So, 11 damage in total.
3) For Albion and Hibernia, Dual Wield basically randomizes your swings, so you'll either hit with your right hand weapon or left hand weapon. In Midgard, you attack with both weapons at the same time, but your overall damage is halved.

So... I would be better of just using a shield?

No, probably not. You get some very nice and interesting looking combat skills with dual wield weapons. And most of your higher end daggers have some nice stats on them.

(Yes, folks, I'm back from wherever I vanish to for random lengths of time...)
As a critter lives, it builds up an XP bonus. The longer it's alive, the higher the "camp bonus."
In your example, you did a total of 24 damage. The 14 includes the +6 from your style, and the +2 from your damage type (such as crushing against skeletons and stuff). Then you add in the ten from the critical hit, for 24.
As for dual wield, it works like this. When you're holding two weapons, you make a Dual Wield check. If this check succeeds, then you swing with both weapons, and there's a 50/50 chance of using the delay for either. If this check fails, then you have a 50/50 chance of swinging with either weapon, using the appropriate delay. I forget the chance to swing with both weapons, but I know it's been bumped up a few times in the past. The numbers I'm looking at right now say 25% + half your Dual Wield, but I'm pretty sure that it's changed since then.
I answer questions like this on GameFAQs all the time.

I'm starting to have some serious trouble keeping my equipment up to snuff. Yes, snuff.
Over the course of the evening, I accumlated around 40 silver, quite the coin purse for my l'il level 7 Merc. I then burned almost the entire sum on only two frickin' pieces of iron studded armour. Two! Madness!
So my question is, am I just destined for destitution, or is there some tradeskill/moneymaker that I've overlooked?
Or am I actually doing okay and just don't realize it?
Or should I totally ignore the armour that merchants have to sell at this point?
Ack! So many little nuances... brain... meltifying...
Meltifying? Ha! That's not a word! Now greeblefax, there's a word for you.
