Yeah, this is what most of you would call "n00b", but the again - read the title of the thread. ...

Okay, well, as most of you know, I don't have a lot of experience being above level 5 - due to my short attention span and need to change characters every week. . .

BUT...I now have a level 16 Druid that I really enjoy playing. Anyways, my guild informed me that I should go for this "Testament of Vanear" quest. (The result of the quest is a really nice WIS/MANA(?) book. Anyways, I complete the first part of the quest easily, and get page 1 of the quest with no problems (except maybe now I'm out about 50pp after giving that Moodoo guy 4 gold about 10,000 times to get one freakin' Jester card...).... But it could've been worse. (And believe me, it did get worse...)

Sooo.
I'm off to Highpass Hold to camp this Dilyan Starshine (sp?) guy. I had a high level guild-mate come with me, because, I was told, I probably couldn't take Starshine on alone....

And...BTW, Starshine only spawns once every 8 or so hours...So we're sitting there, waiting. (I expected a HUGE line, but were were all alone, until.....)

...This Wood Elf appears!!!

And I'm thinking..."KS me, and die."...

But she was really nice, and explained that she had been waiting for this guy to pop for awhile. Just then, my guild-mate partner has to leave.....And so the friendly Wood Elf and I decided to make this plan: We'd take turns camping Starshine, like in shifts. And whoever was camping him when he popped could have the last page that he drops (to complete the quest), and the other person would help bring him down. Then it would go vice-versa for the next time he popped, so we'd both end up helping eachother out....

So, we're waiting all evening....

And it's 9:50 PM, and it was her turn to camp, so I went back to Highpass Keep enterance to wait for my turn, and she went to camp Starshine. Then about 15 minutes later, she pops back at the enterance where I am, and I'm like "WTF?? You died???" But she didn't answer, so I immediately gated back to the Starshine camp (where I had bound myself), and JUST THEN Starshine was being brought down by another Druid who had - as they said - "just logged on"...

I was happy for them, though, and congratulated them...

It was just a crazy night.

*whines*...And I want that book. =P

Your shield is better than the testament.
You smell that? Do you smell that? ...Napalm, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that. I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed for twelve hours. When it was all over I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory.

Did they call a camp check you didn't answer? If not, that's outright KS...

Same thing. I could've quoted this and said nothing, but that would have angered the masses!

My first camping experience was..um..interesting. I was level 7, and camping orc 1 in EC. It was an..um..eccentric group. Our group leader, an ogre named Thoude, claimed he was the Angel of Death because he had levitate on. Laidenar, wood elf druid, had no problem in identifying himself as a homosexual. Then there was that erudite mage named Waddlingpickle who though he should be leader and tried to duel Thoude. When he was losing he ran away and whined and tried to petition. I never saw him again, thank God. Our 4th was a human SK named Aargas who didn't seem to know what he was doing. Then there was Ralainus and me. I was in the group, trying to actually get some work done, but Ralaius, who had played EQ for much longer than I had, just watched and laughed. I eventually ran away, pursued by the freaks who haunt me to this day, yelling "PLZ WAIT PLZ PLZ PLZ SNEEGA!" All those "plz"s...gave me nightmares for days. Oh yeah, and after that, Ralainus bought me some gnomish fireworks and I was all better.

Now I don't know why I remember my FIRST camping experience, but it made me a problem EQ-child, and that's why I am me. Thank you.

Tier had this to say about pies:

Well, my friend and I weren't exactly right AT the camp scene - since she had left it unguarded for a -split second- when she died, and when I gated back, it was too late.

The person who came along and killed Starshine did say she "just popped on, and didn't see anyone around"...So she didn't feel she needed to call for a camp check, I guess.

So I guess no-one has any right to feel they've been KS'ed... it was just sooo dissapointing....we were so close! hehe... =P

And Snoota . . . .

I think one of my first real camps was in Perma for the icy greaves for lambent. Normally these are a kinda common drop. So me and a lvl 50 something druid friend go off to camp... 5 hours later I get the stupid greaves.
But im gonna say the worst camp ive done was Iksar Berserker Club in Kurns.... omg some 40/50 hours of camping and the skele finally pops, and someone KS'd me. He didnt have the club though, and I wasnt gonna wait arround again so I left.
Last camp I did was with a cleric friend for his epic, lord somethingorother?... stupid gobbie in SolA. I was there 15 hours, he was there 20. Was not fun... everyone else I know got their peice from him in 1 or 2 hours. =/

The only thing I ever camped was the GBS in Qeynos hills with a 25 warrior, (I was a 22 ranger at the time,) We had decided we would split the money if she dropped one. I only had to wait about 2 hours before she poppped, but she only had I rusty dagger. Since my attention span got the best of me, I decided to camp. This was quite a while ago, though. I level very slowly.
