Ok there's one book that most of you will flame me. It's in the list; you'll have to find it.

Sword of Shannara. One of Terry Brooks best.

Any from The Cat Who series. And Yumyum and Koko (Spelling) better be the triangle headed (traditional?) Siamiese cats.

The River world series. I think Sci-Fi channel has made a Rivrwold movie, but is it the Phillip Jose Farmer (Spelling please) version?

Memory, Thorn, and Sorrow. That's should be made into a tv mini series.

The Wheel in Time. A movie will Not do justice. A Television series is the only way to do it. Is five season good enough?

Atlas shrugged, another tv mini series. They will have to cut out John Galt's long speach at the end. (I know that Fountainhead was made into a movie, But I always catch it at the end).

The Amber series. (I didn't know that Paul was dead. Found about his death a few years later)

Eon, Eternity.

I Robot, yes I know about the failed attempt to make that into a movie. Harlen was involved with the script, it would of been an ok movie.

Foundation, Same as the WoT.

Hyperion, and Fall of Hyperion. The Shrike owns all.

Starship Troopers, No I do not recognised that piece of crap that was made into a movie. It's at the same suckage level as Battlefield Earth. No it was not a parody or anything that it pokes fun at. It's a crappy movie and that is that. I want the true book translation.

Stranger in a Strange Land, and why not.

Farmer in the Sky, TV series.

I know I miss alot of books, but I'll think of more.

Who's that crazy kook that's destroying the world. It's Zorc (That's me) It's Zorc and Pals.
Bakura: Did you forget our anniversary, again? (laughter)
Zorc: Yes, I was busy destroying the world (laughter) Slaughtering millions. (Laughter)

Huxley would roll over in his grave, but I'd love to a silver screen adaptation of Brave New World.
Once more into the breach, my friends, once more. We'll close the wall with our dead. In peace, nothing so becomes a man as modesty and humility, but when the blast of war blows in our ears, then imitate the action of the tiger, summon up the blood, disguise fair nature with rage and lend the eye a terrible aspect.

Great movie IMHO. It just had not much in common with the book.

(And isn't it "Wheel of Time" by the way?)

...

Actully it was made into a CG cartoon. Unfortunatly it followed the plot of the movie. But took a tone closer to the book.

Also I think in 1988 a Anime/Manga was made from it.

Personaly I would rather not see any of heinleins work touched, since so far Holleywood has managed to hack and slash the ones they have touched, Starship Troopers and The puppet Masters.

Ok here's more.

The Dragon Riders of Pern series.

Thomas Covenent the Unbeliever.

I would say Dune Messiah, and Children of Dune, but Sci-Fi channel is going to start production this year. It'll be a six part series. BTW I think Sci-Fi's version of Dune is far more superior than David Lynch's version.

Any Sheri S. Tepper's books.

OMG Freschel! I thought I was seriously the ONLY person in the world that has read the Riverworld series! I have always thought that would be an awesome miniseries or tv show!

I also agree with the Thomas Covenant books. Discworld books too, I love em!

Two other books I love are called "The Alienist", and "The Angel of Darkness". Both by Caleb Carr. I highly recommend them if you like mysteries.

Clear and Present Danger by Tom Clancy. And no, not that piece of shit movie that made me refuse to see a movie that was based on a book for years!

The chapter titled "Battle of Ninja Hill" is the greatest battle ever in a book!

You smell that? Do you smell that? ...Napalm, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that. I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed for twelve hours. When it was all over I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory.

They need God emperor of Dune, Heretics of Dune, and Chapter House Dune, too. They're good. The series gets somewhat surreal and quite depressing, though. Starting with and especially Dune Messiah, and God Emperor of Dune...

His dark materials: gotta be a minis series becosue other than the first book neither of the other 2 could even be three hours and still be halfway decent, and the first book would be merely ok at 3 hours, then again, maybe not a mini series, maybe just a eries, I could eisily see it do 16 episodes if it styed even remotely close to the books

way of the traitor- might not be a masterpiece but its fast reading and the kind of story that is actually posiple to turn into a movie

never read the book, but I though the star ship trooper movie was pretty good, same goes for the dune mini series

{edit: forgot, the rest of the dune books would also be nice}

The Belgariad, both parts, along with books one through six of The Malloreon. Kick. Ass. Books, by David Eddings.

And for whatever reason, I think that 'Anthem' by Ayn Rand would make a kickass movie, but they'd have to keep a constant narraration, though, but it'd kick ass. It'd also confuse quite a many people, but I think it could be pulled off.

There's no such thing as a "true book translation" to a movie. They're completely different mediums. Might as well ask for a perfect translation from a globe to a map; it's simply not possible, since a map is a 2D representation of a 3D object. In a book, the only limit to the ideas and images that can be expressed is the author's imagination. In a movie, abstract ideas are difficult and sometimes impossible to express, and the images are limited by several practical factors, such as budget, ability of the actors, special effects, practical length of the movie, etc. No matter how faithful to the original book a movie is, it will never be a perfect translation. It simply can't be. It's because of this that I try to avoid making the comparison between movies and the books they're based off of. I know it's impossible to not at least think about it, but a movie based off of a book is a creation in its own right, and shouldn't be judged, at least not solely, on how close to the book it was.

Although I agree with you that Starship Troopers was a crappy movie (but my opinion has nothing to do with how faithful it was to the book). But it had its moments. There's very few movies I've seen where I didn't like at least part of it. The only movie I've seen that was so disappointing I wish ZI hadn't seen it was "Wolf." Not that it was that bad, well yes it was actually, but I expected more. At least a little more... I swear it's as if the moviemakers and actors weren't even trying. I know Jack Nicholson can act much better than that, I've seen him do it... the script sucked, the cinematography sucked... this was a really good idea that got made into a really bad movie, I'd much rather see it the other way around.
