I want to stay out of this argument by saying that he DID mean the Rat King, thus; not me... But I WILL say that I wouldn't be afraid of Sauron's great and evil army if about twenty of their orc/goblin/burrito supreme soldiers were killed by an elf with a bow, and a ranger with a sword, a dwarf with an axe...and a bunch of hobbits...think about that.

Examining the Stats:
Let's assume that Legs has a 19 DEXterity.
That's a roll of 18, +1 for being an Elf.
This would provide a +3 Reaction Adjustment (read initiative), +3 Missile Attack Adjustment (read Bow), and -4 Defense Adjustment.
Because he is a Ranger his STRength must be atleast a 13, but I would venture to guess that it's higher than we expect as he obviously has some Attack and Damage adjustments.
His CONstitution also has to be atleast a 14(ranger requirement) despite the -1 CON Elven disadvantage; but, I'm thinking it's higher than 14. I mean... he wasn't even affected by the snow EVEN with that thin ass leather armor on.
His WISdom must be atleast a 14 (again required to be a ranger); but since he joined this doomed group of his own volition, I would say it's no higher than that.
INTelligence, he didn't really say enough to give us a good clue as to this, but I'd say it one of the few average ability scores he has.
And then there is his CHaRisma. By AD&D standards this is nigh immeasurable. His Reaction Adjustment is astronimical; I mean... look how many women would LOVE to be his Henchmen ... er... henchwomen.
Elven Ranger Adjustments:
Well to start with, Elves get a +1 to hit with bows and longswords.
Any Ranger above Level 2, and we KNOW he has to be above level 2, can select a racial hatred. I think we can easily surmise the Legs HATES Orcs. Thus, his Ranger racial hatred allows him a +4 to all attack rolls(that's to hit and damage) versus Orc.
Weapons and Specialization:
I would say that his bow is atleast a Bow +1 because it's of Elven make. So that's +1 to hit, damage, and initiative rolls.
It seems obvious to me that Legs is Specialized with a bow. Duh! So that's {b]+1 to hit +2 to damage[/b], +2 to hit if the target is within 60 feet.
Because of the sheer number of attacks that Legs delivers we have to assume he pretty high damn level. But, well even AD&D doesn't solve for that many attacks per round.
The Orcs:
Well, if we use the 'Monstrous Compendium' to define these Orcs then we know they 1 Hit Die. That means 8 hit points (Monster HD are 8 sided).
The 'Monstrous Compendium' also says they should be awarded and AC of 6 for studded leather plus a shield. But most of those Orcs were wearing plain leather or hide with no shield. But we'll be kind and give them a 7 AC.
Adding up the Modifiers:
Iniative Modifiers:
-3(Dex) -1(Elven Bow)
-4 to initiative rolls
THAC0 Modifiers:
+3(Dex) +2(specialization, point blank range) +1(Elven Bow) +1(Elf with Bow) +4(Ranger Racial Hatred for Orcs)
+11 to hit AC 0
Damamge Modifiers:
+2(specialization) +1(Elven Bow) +1(Elf with Bow) +4(Ranger Racial Hatred for Orcs)
+8 to damage
The Results:
So... with a -4 to initiative rolls it will be exceedingly difficult for the orcs to get the first hit in on Legs.
So when Legs fights the Orcs, he's battling monsters with AC 7. With a +11 to hit, that means from level 2 on Legs will ONLY miss the Orcs if he rolls a Natural 1.
Now, considering the fact that orcs only have 1 HD(meaning only 8 hit points), and the fact that he will do atleast 8 points of damage due to his modifiers, Legs will kill the orcs with only 1 shot.
