Her pain is over, and she can rest now.

She left very specific instructions - there is to be NO public wake, and the small family service she wanted will be closed-casket. She said she didn't want anyone staring at her while she was dead.

That's my grandma. She had a vain streak - while waiting for the ambulance to take her to the hospital, she took time to make sure her hair and makeup were all right, even though it turns out she was having a heart attack at the time.

I don't know when the services will be, but I DO know I don't own a suit that fits. She said I looked unnatural in a tux at my brother's wedding, anyway.

I love you Grandma. Say hi to God for me, and go find Barney (My dog). He'll be glad to see you.

Like I just said in IRC, she died a week ago; doctors just kept her hanging on until now...

Anyway, I'm more grateful that her pain is over more than sad. I had some time to get used to the idea, and while yes, tears came to my eyes while typing this, I'm basically okay.

Doesn't mean I don't appreciate youse guys though.

I understand this, I had the same feelings when my grandparents and my dad passed on, I was/still am, very upset that they are gone from my life, but also glad they are not suffering anylonger.

I'm not sure if my Grandma (on my father's side) will last much longer, she's been very sick lately. Both of my blood Grandfathers are already gone.

Lost my own grandmother this past November. Believe me when I say I feel for ya.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss, but I'm glad your grandmother isn't suffering any longer. I'm sure she'll be watching over you now as your own guardian angel.

Since then Christmas has not been a good holiday for us. I know my Mother, Aunt and Uncle took it way harder than me. Also went to see my Grandfather this past Christmas and I am pretty sure he is not gonna make it to this year's.

So some of us are there with you and understand how you feel...it doesn't make it hurt any less but you are not alone.
