The critter they're refurring to is a damned froglock in the swamp of no hope. What is he for? The #@%$#ing druid epic. He drops a peice we need to clense Kunark so we can save norrath from evil and get the leafy sword.

To respond to the original question...yea that should do it. Have your Main Tank toss up defensive and start bashing on him alone for a few seconds then send everyone else in.
He hits kinda hard but is pretty easy to do with 2 groups, the more monks and rogues you have the easier he is.
Not to mention you're only level 46 
You must have some really good friends if they're willing to let you get the piece without helping AND pre-level 51

Yep, I'm planning to do most everything as soon as I can. The only thing that worries me is not if people will help me or not because of my level, but if I'll even get my epic from Xanuusus because of it.

We do him with 2 groups all the time. Here is what they look like:
1 - Warrior
2 - Paladins
2 - Rangers
2 - Monks
1 - Rogue
2 - Clerics
2 - Druids
It varies from time to time, never had anyone die. As a matter of fact, we've killed him without wearing gear
You *should* be able to complete the quest at 46 since you can 'reasonably' obtain everything by then, however you can't click it before 50 and with all the crap that VI has done about level limiting (ie: SK Epic Spell (level 49) can't be started till you're 50) I wouldn't even try till 51

GMs arent allowed to touch epics in any way what so ever. Petitions on Epics are useless.

VI policy, NOTHING will be replaced when it comes to epic's. 10 Gms can watch it poof and they cannot give you back your item.
Of course there are exceptions, get your situation posted on a popular website and verant has been known to give back things. I believe one guy actually got his epic back after it was posted on the former LtM.
