BG is annoying for one thing: Level drains. ICK. Luckily I'm a little more preparied (NP protection from Jaheria. EXCEPT I HATE HER, CAUSE SHE'S NEUTRAL!)

If you have a PS 2 Baldurs Gate ark Alliance is fun.
It's kinda like Diablo with AD&D 3rd addition rules.

Fallout 1, 2, and Tactics... Play in that order...
it's the best RPG i've ever played. this includes BG 1, 2 and TOB, all the FF's and a whole crapload of others.
i've been creaming my pants just 'cause of the fact that it doesn't make me want to slam my head into my keyboard (ala BG 1).
all i can say is that you need to get it, read the manual (very very important that you read the manual, trust me), and start beating crabs into piles of gooey goodness.
the sheer amount of custom abilities from the 12 classes, 8-10(i think) races, and 30-40 skills make this game rock all.
the only beefs i have with it is the combat movement and the formation system, but those are minor compared to the rest of the gameplay.

Dying in SR1 was something only idiots could do, since no enemies in the spirit realm were hard enough to pose a significant threat.

You get a savespot about every 1-2 hours (including cutscenes). A while into the game you get very tough enemies that exist in the material realm as well as the spiritual one.
