I got my ticket reserved... 10:00 AM wednesday morning, I'm gonna go see it
I'm still nervous about how much they dorked with the plot, though.

We're going Friday, at the theater in Downtown Disney World. Wanted to see it Wednesday, but our dinner reservations conflicted, and Thursday is Cirque du Soleil . . . so I have to wait until Friday.I'm still nervous about how much they dorked with the plot, though.
I'll probably go on Friday, as well...busy with things the other two days.
Plus, I never realized that they shot all three movies at once. Talk about taking a risk!
They're filming both sequels to The Matrix simultaneously, but they have a successful opener as a good foundation, so they have less to worry about.
All in all, I think I'm gonna enjoy it.

Which Cirque are you seeing? I've seen Mystere and O. O was good, but Mystere was amazing.

From the "Makings of LOTR" special FX has been running, they've seem to have done quite a job bringing it to the big screen. There are bound to be things they have to take liberties with, but I'd be genuinely surprised if they get too far off track.

Hey this is Peter Jackson we're talking about. I know he'll do a decent job at it. Thank God that Jon Be Bent (Twister), Paul Vorhoeven (Starship Trooper), Joel Smuckmacker (Batman and Robin) and other Wanna be directors that are really hacks, did not get the job in directing the film. Imagine the suckage if they did.
So, I believe plans are made.

I read an interview with the director and he acknowledged there are some noticable changes in the movie version. He said that he felt that Tolkien would of probably not agreed with many of the changes, but they felt they were neccessary for whatever reason. I think most of the changes we'll find will be with in acceptable bounds, but who knows.
If you really want to find out, you can always get on your file sharing client of choice and find a pirated copy of the movie. It was released in Britain a few weeks ago, no doubt there are tons of copies floating around shot with a home video recorder from the back row of the theather.
