*slaps those that had thier mind in the gutter*

My sisters boyfriend works at one of the local cinemas. He's been trying to get me into a prescreening of Lord of The Ring the day before it opens. He couldn't do it (his butthead boss won't let ANY employees bring friends but he invites 30+ of his buddies ) but he did the next best thing. At 8:30am on Wednesday I'll get to see it. He said to be sure to take the morning off because it's 3 hours long!!! And this is 10 times better because instead of about 100 or so people there will be less than 10!
Hoowah!

CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!

*chuckles* Could do that as well. But this way I don't have to listen to the two nattering mules behind me chittering on about whose boyfriend did what and crunching of popcorn and little kids screaming and wetting thier pants.

*refuses to let anyone burst his bubble over this*

Given that we are like 14+ hours ahead of the US, and the movie also opens here next Wednesday, maybe I can give a report on whether or not it'll be worth it before y'all go see it

Eh, I might go see it sometime, but I'm not to thrilled by the idea.
I believe in the existance of magic, not because I have seen proof of its existance, but because I refuse to live in a world where it does not exist.

I don't care what the critics say (although they have been giving it a lot of praise), I'll be seeing it regardless. Midnight tonight (16 hours from now)

About the only thing I'm really bummed about is Tom Bombadillo(sp?) won't be a part of the story the last I'd heard. He's one of my favorite characters. *sighs*

I also heard that the Tom Bombadil scene will not be in the movie due to time constraints.

*chuckles* I'm sure it would add another half hour or so. Well then, I'm sure the DVD will have the scenes.

I pretty much figured the movie would have to be this long, giving the epic nature of the subject matter. Even at 3 hours, they'll have to leave a lot out. But there's no way they could make a complete movie to satisfy the fans of the original books in two hours, it would be very rushed and abridged. Movies based on extremely popular books try not to stray too far from the original for fear of losing the audience of the book fans. That's why Harry Potter was so long (about 2 hours, 45 minutes) for a children's movie, they didn't want to leave a lot out if they could avoid it. Allows the movie to ride the coattails of the book a little. And since they made the unprecedented, financially risky move of filming all three Lord of the Rings books at once, I guarantee you they're going to do all the can do make sure the books' popularity rubs off on the movies, so they're going to stay as faihful as practical to the books, and leave as much in as they practically do so. Also, I'm sure the DVDs will contain many of the scenes that had to be left on the cutting room floor because of time contraints, guaranteeing good DVD sales later.

Think it'll pay off for them. Buzz about the movie seems to be good, this will probably be one of the most succesful Christmas movie season releases. May even surpass Harry Potter.

Seeing it Saturday, can't wait myself...
