i wanna know too
i have EQU going watching the servers, and several are up, including the one i play on, but it wont patch

If I remember correctly, not only do they have to bring them up, but a GM logs on to each server and does a quick check to make sure everything works player side before they open them up. Me guessing it will be another hour.

Do people have any Idea what kind of work in involved in something like this?
I would bet really good money that every single person from Verant has been there since about 8:00 am yesterday morning and that they are still there now. THey are making sure everything is working properly and tring to keep all hell from breaking loose.
It isn't like they could just snap thier fingers and BLAMMO new servers up and runing. I expected them to go over. It isn't going to kill anyone.

I would rather have them take a few extra hours than to have stuff go really wrong and FUBAR my characters.

(Ok, I admit. I don't have time to play this morning, and I won't get off of work till around Midnight. So, I'm not missing anything.)

SoL comes on three (yes THREE) CDs. Took about 15 minutes for me to install on both machines. 1.5 gig of HD space will be needed for in the installer.

I'm sitting here waiting for the patcher to open up too, so I can go explore the moon.

But, I'd rather wait an extra 5 hours for the servers to come up, then have them go down every 2 hours as they find new bugs.

And you can still be free, If time will set you free
And going higher than the mountain tops
And go high like the wind don't stop...

EQ fubard my char, I'm still waiting to be able to get on and bug a GM about getting an 8k SK sword back because EQ broke on my machine and wouldn't work....

That's it, they are making you buy SoL and then they are waiting till after you all to get off work or whatever and waiting for the kids to get home from school to all install SoL and then use it's patcher, to stress test thats it.... Then when you get in CERASH! down again for 8 hours. "Hello this is Verant here we are sorry we were not ready and the servers will be down till 8 am tommarow!!! That gets confusing as you're using England's time zone as a basis to compare two AMERICAN time zones. Try this:

Central  =  11:00
Mountain =  10:00
Pacific  =  09:00
