AND NOW They're making a MASTER OF ORION 3!!
All my favorite games in the world are being perpetuated
All those do sound pretty nifty.

Sometimes, but I have faith in....uh...ok so I'm just blindly optimistic.
I hear AvP2 is good though.

WHAT KINDA SEQUEL IS THIS!?
No turn-based?!?!

Great... I can see it now. All the races look human, with tiny differences. Or even worse, they're ALL human with different factions.
Actually the races look OK.

I've had the website bookmarked for weeks now.
Bastards! They could have just updated their look a bit.
Oh well, at least the reptile race I used second-most is still there.
Thankfully, from what I've heard, they may have cancelled production on it. All the stores that I've been to say that the game has been removed from their lists of future releases.
I will be more thankful if Infogrames just leaves the series alone, I can't say how pissed I am that Microprose has been swallowed up by them...
::grumbles:: I've gotta find out exactly what it would take to get the rights to that series... I will *NOT* allow this desecration of such a magnificent game to continue.

So the release of a third game will somehow make the first two suck? wtf?
I can understand criticizing them for "violating" the "purity" of the game in thier sequel, I mean it's something that various people find a way to do literally every single time a sequel is made (even if it ISN'T a sequel to a cult classic), but actually hoping the game isn't released? That just flat out doesn't make any sense.
You can edit your race to make a cheesemonger, but cheesecake has to ship with the came.
Elerians had blue (_|_), maybe we should send Drysart to...convince them to put the Elerians back in.

Never said that it would make the first two suck, but this one is, frankly, a steaming pile. No offense to you, Maradon, but yes, I hope the game is not released. They've taken everything about the Master of Orion universe and butchered it beyond recognition.
I've read the history they've drawn out for the series, and it's a joke. It *DOES* practically invalidate the first two games. Or at least MoO2, they seem to totally ignore the original. Unless the history they've done has been radically changed over the last month...
Do I want other gamers to suffer because I don't like the game? No, I never said that. What I do want, however, is to have a series that I can be proud to spend hours at a time writing stories about. Hell, most of my roleplaying characters originate in the Master of Orion universe.
Even if this game does see release, I won't acknowledge it's existence. Had it followed any semblance of the previous game, I'd be more than willing to see differently. I too was ecstatic when I heard that this sequel was being made. Then I saw what they'd done to it... [ 11-19-2001: Message edited by: Mooj ]
Just because it's your opinion that the game will suck doesn't mean it's everyone's.
I should have made a bit better comment in my previous post...
It's the history for it that sucks. The fact that that's going to be branded into people's minds when they think of Master of Orion, that is what pisses me off. Had they made this a new series, or even changed the title of it, I wouldn't have such a problem with this.
sighs, just thinking of all his long standing plans that're going to be cast into hell because of this.
And yes, I am quite serious about that...
Once I graduated from college, I was planning to go to Microprose and beg for the chance to write a book about the MoO universe, which could hopefully evolve into a series. If they didn't like what I'd written, that would be fine, at least I'd have had the chance and messed it up on my own. Now, that'll never happen because the blasted history's been mangled beyond all recognition.
Well, yeah, that is kinda lame, and it's a problem a lot of game companies are facing nowadays. It seems as a society we are growing more and more superficial, more focused on fast-paced action rather than things that actually require thought, and our entertainment industry is following suit.
However, there is the consolation that this story really changes nothing. If you ever do get a position at microprose you can always assrape this story in much the same way they assraped the story from MoO1 and 2. It's all arbitrary, heh.
Anyway... Yes, I still plan to persue that avenue as best I can. However, Microprose no longer exists... it's all Infogrames, now. God, I loathe that company...
Somehow, I doubt my dream'll go too far with them... It makes me dream of the day when I can throw enough money at them to buy the rights to the series... Probably won't happen, but at least then I'd be able to work on making things right with it. Well... as right as I can fathom it anyway...
wanders off to dream about that and get caffeine injected into his veins.
