Thats 'Neon Genesis Evangelion'.
The Street Fighter series weren't bad either ... [ 09-28-2001: Message edited by: Tarquinn ]

Ruroni Kenshin kicks ass. I'd suggest the TV series if you want a decent running show that bounces decently between humor and drama (although it kinda falls flat after the first 42 or so Episodes... After the Revenge story arc) and the OVA if you want a *damn* good artwork drama.
Evangelion is good, but be careful about the mind twists and angst crap....
Lain is *excellent*. I didn't have any issues with watching it, but most people say it confuses them and is worse than Eva on the mind twist factor.
Juubei Ninpuchou (Ninja Scroll) is a nice ninja-based action flick. Also some b00b factor to it.
Macross Plus has 2 forms. The Movie and the 4 OVAs. I'd recommend the 4 OVAs because it is longer and a better told in that format... Some people prefer the Movie form because it's just the major events (some of the BS fluff scenes are deleted) and has some extra footage to connect the scenes that aren't in the OVAs.
Lodoss War has 2 forms. OVA and TV series. I'm only half way through the TV series and it's not bad, but start with the OVA. The OVA is the 'original story' and the TV series does make occasional references to it.
Mononoke Hime I haven't seen yet. I need to get off my ass and get the DVD.... I've been told it's very good.
I've seen the beginning eps for Flame of Recca... I can't really form an opinion of it yet.... It's got some good things and bad things.... I'd have to see more before I'd recommend to see or avoid....
Captin Tylor is.... funny.... That's all that really needs to be said. It's funny on the same kind of scale that Lupin III is funny....
Armitage III is a nice Sci-Fi flick, but personally, suck it up and see it subbed because the choice for VA's in the Dub leaves something to be desired IMHO.... [ 09-28-2001: Message edited by: Random Insanity Generator ]

I tend to stay away from subbed versions, I always seem to miss the action and whatnot while trying to read those tiny ass subtitles.
Yeah, the VA's left something to be desired, 'specially for Syllabus.

I saw the Dubbed version first because that's what was available to me. It's still a decent story, but I'm lucky enough to be able to read at an obscene rate... The only thing that pisses me off is when they start doing SPLIT-titling... There's crap on the top and bottom of the screen. I can't keep up at that point..
I need to get off my ass and learn japanese...

Wait till yer drunk long enough to watch all 26 episodes. Then you'll know the peril of thoes twists... hehehehe
I will *never* do that again... mainly because I don't think I can stay drunk and semi-coherent that long anymore.
Grave of the Fireflies is the best movie - though it is a heartbreaker.
And I need to get off my ass and get the other DVD's of Bebop. I only have the first one, but the 5th ep does kick **much** ass.
All suggestions I make are assuming your buying subtitled only. Subtitled is the only way to watch anime! (in my opinion) you lose too much of the intended expressions if you get them dubbed.
Small cyberfreak series (that is one of my absolute favorites) Lain: Serial Experiment 4 tapes
A great series despite Fox's attempts to ruin it, Vision of Escaflowne. Most definately stay away from Fox's version. 8 tapes
Good comedy series for those that like fantasy, Slayers. 24 tapes so far and still going
A good comedy/romance series: Fushigi Yuugi
56 episodes or close to it. 3 episodes a tape
Sappy lovely series (but the first one i bought): Oh My Goddess 5 tapes (only 1 episode a tape though)
Epic D&D tale: Record of Lodoss War 6 tapes i believe
Comedy Sci Fi: Martian Succesor Nadesico, not sure how many tapes exactly...id recommend the dvd route here though if you can. 2 episodes a tape vs 5 episodes a dvd and cost is the same
A good twist of the basic vampire tales: Vampire Princess Miyu. 2 tapes (last i checked)
Good action and cool characters, kinda weak plot: Iria 3 tapes
Great movie: Princess Mononoke 1 tape
Neon Genesis Evangelion: This was a pretty good series. I can't say why though. Not because it'll ruin the series, but because I honestly don't know why I like it. It...grows...on you or something *shiver* hehe. I have forgotten how many tapes in this series.
Have fun chosing
