Another Psy-Stalker I played had an eagle that traveled with him. Much more 'reliable' than the bat since it actually listened to me....
And the disgrace of a Mage that gets stuck with a *slug*. Needless to say I stuck his ass in a jar and kept him under wraps. I think that GM hated me.
and they have a pack instinct and are fairly regal creatures as well.

I have a collection of gypsy/druidic types I call the Elani. They live in Rengir, a world I created where the Inquisition still exists, and their people are persecuted and executed like the witches of old.
One of these is a girl named Elysa. She has a fox kit familiar. Narissa has a ferret for a familiar. Darnara if I remember correctly has a raven.
And then of course, there is my mage, with the most unique familiar you could imagine. Riandar's familiar is Hat. Hat is the wizard hat on her head. Hat talks to her, and Hat is how she performs magic and Hat bites people's faces off if Hat does not like them.
