Or they take the other way, soloing. Druids have good roots and DoTs, yet not nearly as good as a Shaman's at high levels. And about no one is able to solo as efficiently exp-wise as a group will be in those high levels.
While clerics or enchanters will ALWAYS be sought for in high end raids or groups, Druids however will only have use in some very particular encounters, maybe for their Charm Animal line of spells, or some other exploit. But to get to the rare encounters a Druid might have use, he would need to get those levels. But as explained above, a druid cannot find good groups, and are either forced to solo or forced to take bad groups! Therefore they can make it to high levels, but only with a lot of patience, dedication, and, most of all, stupidity not to change classes, quit EQ before L60 or find an uber-guild. In the latter case the druid might get a use, but most guilds will not take more than a few druids because only one or two of them might come in remotely handy in an encounter, other than being reet port biatches. That's about all druids do, porting and sowing.
In short, it takes one fucked up individual to like being a druid.

Looks like the Role Players are finally in for a treat! Brad McQuaid announced that the role playing server will soon be entering an open beta like that of Sullon Zek:
Just an update on [the role playing server], since it's been a while:
We'll be launching it in 'open beta' mode very soon, similar to how S. Zek initially was launched.
As we get closer, we'll post the ruleset as it will be at beta launch.

I'm a warrior, so I don't watch druid stuff THAT closely.
I LIKE playing my druid. Granted she's only level 46, but I really like her.
Yeah, I know, I have no basis to judge the high end game at this point. But I figure if my druid becomes truly useless, then I'll pull out the warrior twink and level her up a bit instead.
The game is what you make it. I guess I play more for the social aspect than most. Might explain why I've been playing for two years and only have a 46 as my highest character.

HOLY COW NO! You couldn't land farther from a druid's only specialist ability! Ensnare overrides wizard snares, and lasts a lot longer, even if it isn't AE. Druid roots deal some damage, and have a tendancy to last longer (but they break mez...).

I like my druid too, but it's getting real hard to find her groups now, especially on Prexus, the Hell Server... At peak time I can go 2 hours LFG, and wish people would choose me over one of the other 7 druids that are LFG...

Same here, my druid's birth date is in August 2000, and she's still 42. I like interacting with others, yet most of the people on Prexus are asses. Of course, it's the same for all servers, but since the player base in Prexus is all in the L40-60 range, it seems much moreso.
I'm pretty sure I'd like my druid a lot more if I had started her on, say, Zebuxoruk instead. But no, bad luck threw me on the most populated server, with a lasting record in avoiding server splits. [ 09-21-2001: Message edited by: Tier ]
