Topic: What martial art/s would YOU want to master?
Steven Steve
posted 09-02-2001 08:46:00 PM
If you had a whole lot of free time and money, what martial art would you want to learn? Even though I do Taekwon Do, I would want to learn Jeet Kune Do, Ninjutsu, and Bushido/Kendo all at the same time!

I would learn Tricka Yu en Runa Yu Daon.

It's an ancient art based on deception and cunning. When challenged to a fight, you tell your opponent that you left your gi in the car, and you'll be right back. So you go to your car...

...And turn that little shit into Roadkill.

Very effective.

Karate or Ninjitsu, I think. Even karate would be a great way to keep yourself in shape. I've thought about going and taking classes at the place down the street from me.

Ok, took a seminar in Kajukenbo, the guy that was teaching it was insane, showed about 15 different ways to poke through a guys eye, and dislocate the jaw, and rip off ears, and all at the same time...

I know that's not all it is, but doesn't really make me want to be his uki again.

I was in the Virgin Islands once. I met a girl, we ate lobster, drank piña coladas. At sunset, we made love like sea otters. That was a pretty good day. Why couldn't I get that day over, and over?

Wing tsun us the art I'd study.
My husband has been studying it since he was 6 yrs old.
It was the original martial art that Bruce Lee Incorporated with boxing and Wrestling to form Jeet Kune Do.
It was actually a martial arts style designed by a woman.
I just wish I had more time to study it.
My kiddo who is four is really much better then I am at it.

I would not suggest Karate for a couple very simple reasons.
1: most schools in the US have been over westernised. Which means they are useless for anything except a good workout.
2: Most US Karate Schools actually teach a watered down version of TaeKwonDo. And since you already take TKD then whats the point.

My suggestions.
Penjek Silat
JeetKunDo(sp)
Kendo/Kenjitsu
Judo/Jujitsu (my personall favorite)
Kendo/Kenjitsu (Although this is more of a weapons form it is still nice to know)

Or you may find the right places that still teach the original Okinawan Karate.
