Carson was cool. When I was younger I'd sneak staying up late to watch Johnny. That was in the good old days when Letterman was still hilarious and did crazy things (I have one Letterman on tape where he took requests for things to be smashed in a hydraulic press. Kept getting requests for a human head...ended up squishing a can of ham instead...).

Then Johnny, having been a mainstay for decades, decided to retire. Good for him. He'd made me laugh as a kid and my dad loved the guy. Bring on Dave!

er...oh...what's this? Jay Leno? didn't that guy advertise Doritos? they picked him over Dave? hrm...okay...

So Jay takes over...and he's not bad. Just hasn't gotten into his groove. Dave moves to CBS, and I watch Dave for a while. Then Dave starts to lose steam.

But that's okay, because there's this new guy on NBC named Conan. He and Andy Richter are hilarious. Let's go watch them. Then Andy leaves, and the sophomoric humor starts to not be so funny anymore...and Dave hasn't picked up any steam (seems to be all about the Top Ten lists) and is getting more mature and hokey...and seems doomed to turn into that Tom Snider guy that Craig Kilbourne replaced...

So I turn to Jay. Hey he's gotten funny! okay well...not as good as Johnny...and not as good as Dave used to be. But he's the best guy out there.


So it started:
Johnny>Dave
then it was:
Dave>Jay
Then it was:
Conan>Dave>Jay
Now it's:
Jay>Conan>Dave

hopefully this means Dave is due to make a comeback. I miss the Dave I used to watch.

Andy Richter was so funny. The skits of what 'Andy was doing when guests were being interviewed' was hilarious(sp?). The best one is when he came out in a turban being carried by 4 built men and being fed grapes by beautifual half naked woman...
