First off, it says right in the article that the mother had known this woman since she was 8 years old, so the mother WOULD at least know about the sitter losing her kids to drug addiction. I also find it really hard to believe that you can know a person for that long and have no clue that they're capable of killing a child by dehydration.

It wasn't as if she dropped her kid off just to have some time away from him, she was very sick. I'm assuming she didn't have money for the hospital, and that's why. It's just good she kept the daughter with her to care for, or likely she'd be dead as well.
It's sad that it takes actual murder for something to be done long-term about the sister.

Just a personal thing, perhaps, but I have cared for my kids while running a high temperature, while they were sick, AND while I had to go to work on top of all that.
