Tools->options->Performance and drop Video Acceleration down a level.
There is also a shortcut to screenshot in WMP, but I don't know it!

The easiest way is to download Windows Media Classic and hit F5 where you want to screenshot. It's too old to have that video acceleration crap!
Actually, the VERY easiest way to do it as Drysart pointed out forever ago, is to simply open a second media player. You won't be able to screen cap the first instance you open, but you will the second
File -> Save Image.

I dunno about anyone else, but I'm not using Classic because I have no idea what the difference between it and whatever version came installed on my computer is.

Because you can't change the brightness settings on MPC as you can with WMP.

MPC is a crappy, barebones player, that looks like crap and has limited options.
WMP is an all in one with like a gazillion options, that handles just about anything, has a library, and easily manageable.
You can get images the way Drys and Maradon said, or as long as you turn video mixing on through the advanced options... All you ever have to do is go to the "View" menu and choose "Capture Image".

Or just hit CNTL+I for the shortcut

Efficient, non-tracking, less buggy, more secure.
I guess that doesn't matter though when you have such useful things as a default skin.

You can turn off all the tracking features in WMP, and they aren't usefull for much of anything anyway. I've never had buggyness from WMP, never had security issues either. And I wouldn't call MPC efficient for anything except straitforward barebones video playback, DVD's have issues, as do certain files.
Such usefull things include, cataloging, library functions, more versatility with less effort, it handles my shitload of MP3's as well, and easier than WinAmp, and Id rather not have two programs when one can serve the purpose... I dont think I even really ever used skins.

I was with you until you said easier than WinAmp. You've forced me to go use MPC now. I hope you're happy now, bitch.

Then why have you updated if you haven't had issues with bugs and security?
Never had an issue here with DVD playback through MPC.
Cataloging.. that's done on the server.
Library... Server.
Versatility? I don't want it to make coffee, I want it to play media.
And by default you use a skin with WMP 9 or greater.

Umm...
Not all of us run servers or anything else and are talking about Home Use. And even then, someone has to either manually, or find another program to do the cataloging/library on the server.
The only Updates I've done have been the WindowsUpdate every so often which does it for me.
I like versatility, and the ability to do and handle more things all in one instead of using different programs and the like to do what it can by itself.
I meant I never played with Skins, as in, it looks the same as it did when it installed. I know what Default Skin is. So your skin comment didn't really matter since being able to swap out and change them was never really a factor. MPC has a "Default Skin" too, it just isn't changeable, but it is skinned. It kinda has to be.

Ooh... I sorted my pr0n into seperate folders. My MP3's are sorted into seperate folders based on type of music, then artist, then album. Since I did this by hand and it's actually independant of server, that means anyone can do it, even on their workstation.
Actually the current updates for WMP are not a forced update. You'd have to willingly update it.
It supports skins.. it's not skinned by default. The 'default' skin for WMP does not conform to the standard UI conventions outlined by MS or any other company.

Some people just install all the updates.

Blindly installing updates != good.
If you don't need an update or you're not having the problem the update was designed to fix... why are you applying it?

uhhh, because often they are applying new features?
And last I check, WMP does sort the music into it's own seperate folders by artist and album when you rip them. Plus with my MP3 Player it is easier to sync through WMP because it will convert the formats for me.

Orr... I can just click a button and let WMP do it all for me. Then all I have to do is go back and fix the few, if any, that it misses or cannot place correctly.
And also if I later add a ton more content, I can just recompile, and let it do all the resorting and everything again, rather than having to go back and do it all over again. For the times I only add a bit here and there, I can still do it manually if needed or wanted.

I dont Blindly install updates. I know what I'm installing, it's just there is no reason NOT to install the WMP updates when they come out.
The last few updates to WMP the last few years have been FEATURE updates, not fixes. The fixies are usually included in the critical updates category. If you update WMP at anypoint like from 9 to 10, it's because features were added.

I prefer WMP to WinAmp. And it is easier in the fact If I rip a CD through WMP it will automatically cataloge, sort, and library the files with all the correct database info with the push of a single button. It's sync features are also superior. And I've never liked any WinAmp all in one media package.
I have nothing again WinAmp, but I think WMP is better. Plus WinAmp stalls out reading my library. I have to manually make playlists, of smaller size or normal size, rather than being able to load up my entire library in one go. I also like having the ratings (Which can autobuild thier own playlists depending on my preferences) or being able to just choose music by Genre and various other factors more simply, and with much less effort.
I'm a lazy sonuvabitch, and would rather take advantage of someone elses hardwork who built the software to do everything for me, than do it myself. Faelynn LeAndris fucked around with this message on 07-04-2005 at 02:22 PM.
Most songs sound better with them on Several I have don't, but it's nice for the rest.
