The EC IRC isn't my kinda thing and Drys doesn't come to RPCrest much.
and it looks like the are at www.whatever.com at the address bar, because IE gets to the %01 character and chokes on display, but it still goes and fetches the someotherwebsite.com page attempting to log in as www.whatever.com%01, which is just ignored.

Well, it lets people slip other sites in than what is displayed to the clicker of the link. Thus if you had some malicious person post a link to say some funny article on CNN or FoxNews but really have the link spoofed to that off-site hosting image that SomethingAwful (I think its them) has, it could be somewhat unexpected if you accessed that link from work, thinking it was fine but it really wasn't.
