I don't know how to make a sketch into a real line drawing, especially in photoshop.
This is my first ever real drawing, so please critsize, but be constructive.

Namely me.
And less sketchy.
Anythign you think I could fix?
If that is really your first real drawing attempt, then that is pretty good
Then there's the hand suggestions I made in IRC.

[16:45] <Gikk> help.
[16:46] <Alaan> I have the most random seeing sometimes...
[16:47] <`Doc|Wurq> I can help you with the hands, if you want.
[16:47] <Gikk> yay for avoiding hands.

[16:47] <Gikk> when I draw hands, they look like a midgets.
[16:47] <Gikk> Or somehtign
[16:48] <`Doc|Wurq> Well, just take the mitten you've got, add three curved lines as finger separators (equally spaced, but with slightly more distance from the top since you're showing a slight top-down angle on the hand), then add a thumb coming off the top.
[16:49] <Gikk> Well, the mitten is a closed hand.
[16:49] <Gikk> Not a mitten.
[16:49] <`Doc|Wurq> The thumb should start at the wrist (top line) with the separator half way up the hand length. The finger separators should only be 1/4 of the hand length for a closed fist, with little notches just beyond the ends to indicate knuckles.
[16:49] <Gikk> but.. I think I kinda see what you mean. sec.
[16:50] <`Doc|Wurq> And pull the knife a bit closer to the wrist, so it's in the hand rather than nudging against it.
[16:50] <`Doc|Wurq> I used to be quite good with hands.
[16:51] <Gikk> Agshdgffff.f
[16:51] <`Doc|Wurq> hmm?
[16:51] * `Doc|Wurq is only trying to help
[16:52] <Gikk> Since my comp is crappy as fuck, it keeps loosing the fact that my tablet is pressure sensitive.
[16:52] <Gikk> Sec while I reboot. Again.
[16:52] <Gikk> Oh, it's not you.

If the former, then it's rather excellent, especially for a first try. I know, like, jack shit, so I'd say keep practicing, really. You'll get better.
If it's the latter.. again, I know jack shit, but it's still rather decent.
Maybe take all the lines and make them thinner? The ones around her ears seem kinda thick to me.
I echo the other responses, though, slide the dagger back in the hand a little more.
... And it was drawn with a wacom, in photoshop.
but the changes you've made are good

Can't really make it bigger without fuxing the whole thing up. Uhm.. she's ladylike elf. With small hands. Yeah, that's it.
I'm gonna be trying again.
Oh, and I've only doodled or done landscapes in photoshop, drawing wise. Did a flower and a tree, once...
I used to copy elfquest to, but that doesn't count, cause I copied. [ 09-19-2003: Message edited by: Gikkwiny ]
Great job Gikkay.
Also, try to make her face shape more even. The right side is very angular, while the left is softer... makes it look as if she got her jaw punched in. Either straighten the left or make the right curvier, and it'll look better.
Remove the lines on her neck. Neck lines never look good. If you're looking to define her neck, do it with shading rather than lines.
Her hand IS a little small, as is her dagger. It's not a big a deal as her eyes, just... odd
So it looks less sketchy =\
Although I would have to say the facial geometry and eyes are rather off. For a frontal view, the jaw should be symmetrical. The upper eyelines need to be given an arch, and the lower lines are not really necessary at all.
Those two points are stuff you mostly pick up after practice, though I love the detail on the hair~!
And she looks like she's about to stab herself with the dagger in her left hand.
Good first attempt, all said.

Well, it IS Gikk who's drawing it.
Looking at it, from the neck down + hair, it's all good. Neck up needs work, right?
