Personally, I use a dagger, simply because I just feel dirty when I'm a thief using a sword. The sword is probably actually better though. As for sub, I don't know since I'm going main ninja sub thief...

I don't listen to anything but the game soundtrack. I leave the TV on in the background to listen to. Just the thought of running winamp at the same time as FFXI is scary. my poor framerate!
