Some basic information, though, to help guide you in determining whether you're interested:
+ The game will be based on D&D Third Edition mechanics to structure your character around, since I'm most used to them. However, they will primarily be used as a basic framework - something to limit your character's abilities in creation so the problems of over-powering do not so affect the game like they have when I attempted a fully free-form RP system.
+ My game will be board-based, as it allows one to put greater thought and content into individual actions instead of being pressured to respond instantaneously to situations. I enjoy when people take the time and energy to fully explore the natures of their PCs, so this seems the proper environment for a game I will be running.
+ I will be very open to modifying the game system, and shall do so from the beginning in creation of certain new races and other interesting ideas I have. So if you have inspiration regarding something special in characters, weapons, items, or anything else - talk to me, and I'll try to be accomodating.
+ On the same topic, however, one of my personal qualms with RPGs is when characters respond to things in a noninventive manner because they have the ability to fight or blast their way out of situations. So things you suggest to me may be returned back to you in a far less-powered form. I will try to compromise with you on things that are potentially interesting, but I'm not going to make you more powerful than everyone else in the party and I'm not going to make the party capable of plowing their way through cities with swords swinging.
+ There will be less combat in my game than traditional live gamers will be used to. This is because combats take an exceedingly long time to run in message boards, and also because I expect my players to role-play themselves out of some situations instead of fighting.
+ I will make no special efforts to keep characters alive. Sorry, but that's not the way I run things. If you nobly sacrifice yourself for the group, that's an actual sacrifice. So don't get overly attatched to your characters to the point that the death of them will ruin your week. I have to keep real chances of negative occurrences in the game, or else you're not going to feel challenged in how your PCs act and respond to incidents.
+ Given the fact that I will have the time, I am going to apply all the small rules and requirements that other DMs running real-time games tend to discard. Sorry, but you will have to eat and drink and you can't carry everything you find with you.
+ On the same level, I am going to deviate from the D&D rules if they make no sense in application. The natural world and real scientific physics will have greater application than the oddities involved in attempting to codify them.
+ Anything about the game can be brought up with me - But through Private Messages, please. I've seen quite a few games destroyed through public disagreements about mechanics getting carried out of hand specifically because other people are around and therefore there's an inherent need to "win" the debate. I will take action to prevent disagreements from ruining an entertaining game environment. I understand your right to be annoyed, and your right to air your annoyances, but preservation of the game takes top billing. Sorry.

Anyone still interested, let me know in this thread. If I have enough sustained interest, I'll get to work on my rules variations and get a game website up as soon as possible.
And if you have any other questions, feel free to PM me. [ 10-10-2002: Message edited by: Drakkenmaw ]

Mark me as definitely interestd, though I am new and would have to learn all the nuances of games.
The thread at the top of this board division contains all the important game links. Read up on the previous games if you want to, to get how things here work.
Other than that, try to purchase a Third Edition Player's Handbook. If you can't I should be able to help guide you through, but it would still be helpful.
Always open for a new game though.

Also I have the 3rd edition books. But have not played much with them.
I am familiar with D&D, and AD&D. It has been a while since those too. I am most used to playing free form. Which in my case means that I am used to role playing and not rolling dice. Also the freeform I am used to is kind of a mix between AD&D and Shadow Run.
I have some overpowered characters. But they earned there way there. I like that you are up front in saying that they could possibly die. I think I will make a new character or dust off an old forgotten one.
What levels are you looking for? Do you insist on being of good alignment? Do you use online character sheets? I have never played a messageboard based game. So I will have lots of questions.
Hope this works out. Let me know please.
