I've been reading about FFXI and have come to the following conclusions :

  • I want to play it.
  • I do not have enough money to buy it.
  • I do have a couple small ($10) rebates that would help.
  • I do host an FTP that many l33ch off of that could use some *cough* donations to the 'help Khy buy FFXI fund'

    And the following questions.

  • Are there male Mithra available?
  • Explain to me this 'mog house' thing.
  • Does FFXI have a free month?

  • No.
  • It's kinda like your apartment in AO. Except better. You can go there to change jobs, store stuff in your 'vault,' put up furnishings, some gardening (some items are grown), or receive shipments from other players, etc.
  • Yes.

So, everyone goes to the same area to enter their Mog House? It's not like SWG where the houses are built out in the world or whatever?

Aye, you enter the building in the Residential Area of any zone within your kingdom and it teleports you to your mog house.

correct. Everyone zones into one area, and is warped to thier own house. Which kinda sucks, no visitors.

Most citys are a big circle, with the residental area in the middle. so every city zone pretty much has a residental entrance.

Okay... so If I go into City A and go into the residential area, I go to my house.

Then, if I go to City B and go into the residential area, I go to my house.

    ...right?

That's kinda dumb. But oh well

So what's the deal with the little Tarutaru things?

Does the game translate what you say into munchkin-reject speech or something?

Or is it only the NPC's and really, really stupid PC's who say that?

    Well .. I'm not sure ..

If you are not in your home town, I remember an NPC or something saying that you just get a guest room.

    More questions!

    Can you have multiple characters?

How does the nations thing work? Do I have to join the same nations as you guys are in? Is it like DAoC where nations can't be with nations? Or more like EQ, where anyone can be with anyone?

Multiple characters cost $1 extra per month per character.

Any race can be a part of any nation, and you can switch after making your character.

I think most are in Windurst. If you start in the home nation of the race you pick, you get a ring. Its nice to start out with, but I've replaced mine on my whm.

I still use it when leveling my monk, though.

You can group with people from other nations (as far as I can tell.) But, traveling between nations would take a great deal of time, unless you got high enough rank to get a airship pass. Or high enough level to get a chocobo. I'm not sure if you have to do a quest / pay money, or just talk to a NPC about switching nations for good, but you definatly have to get there.
